I'm torn myself, but I'm going to give Mayweather the benefit of the doubt and say him. Greb didn't grab any of his best wins here imo
I guess the ones to pick out are Bill Brennan x3 Billy Miske Battling Levinsky x3 Willie Meehan Mike Gibbons Mike McTigue Insane for a year, but I think Mayweathe probably has too many good wins.
If comparing Greb's single one year of 1919, to Mayweather's entire career, then you have to include Mayweather falling victim to the "Anas platyrhynchos" on numerous occasions. Greb of course would fight anyone, any place, any time.
Without Greb's top 4 wins (Loughran, Tunney, Walker and Gibbons) I'd be hard pressed to pick the wins over Mayweather's resume That being said, i could be convinced of 1922 Harry Greb > Mayweather 1922 Greb: Bob Roper x2 Larry Williams Al Benedict Tommy Loughran Hugh Walker x2 Gene Tunney Al Roberts Tommy Gibbons Jeff Smith Chuck Wiggins 12 fights in 12 months, averaging a fight a month. Not only that, but he beat 3 fighters i rank in my top 50 P4P
The fact that you can take a single year of Greb's near 13 year career and compare it with Mayweather's entire breadth of work says it all. Ten of Greb's fights came against Hall of Famers during that one year alone. Five of those fights came against a champion or future champion from a division 15 pounds north of his. Nine of those fights came against heavyweights. Mayweather fought basically 49 fights in 19 years (I dont count McGregor). When they scrape the bottom of the barrell he might have fought future HOFers ten times. Maybe. In an era of 36 hours to rehydrate he was never greatly outweighed by any opponent and indeed utilized his star power to negotiate fights in which he held most of the advantages. If Mayweather could boast of a record like Greb's in 1919 we'd never hear the end of it. If Greb had fought in an era of 36 hour rehydration, 4+ champions per division and 17 divisions theyd be erecting temples to his name not just in Valhalla but down here as well.

A student perhaps, but maybe not a particularly objective one in that case. I know he's aware of SRR because his argument has always been 'SRR lost and I'm unbeaten so I'm greater' - I'm paraphrasing but that's the gist of his pretty spurious argument. No problem with Mayweather referring to himself as "one of the greatest" but when he starts saying "GOAT" he could at least try and provide some compelling evidence.
