It's hilarious how Groves can get more stick for below par performances againts Rebrasse and Douglin, yet still wins convincingly.

Yet all anyone can say about Gavin is that he is boxing at the wrong, it forgetting the fact he can't slip a jab and has the power of a bantamweight.

In fact I think big josh has taken more **** then Gavin and he just koed a world title challenger who has never been stopped.

difference is people have expectations of Groves and Joshua .... everyone now know that Gavin is Euro level AT VERY BEST. Even then he aint guaranteed to win at all. If a boxer who hasnt performed for years doesnt perform now its no surprise and to be honest I certainly didnt think he would leave a mark on Kell there is not backlash because there was no hope in hell for him at the weekend. Anyone who thought otherwise is either a troll or dont know a thing about boxing

This is a good post mate, I also like that you said people have expectations of Groves and Joshua, if everyone could admit that this place would be a lot better, rather than peoples constant agenda ridden posts on here, for example if you are a Froch fan you have to call Groves a bum and use the word "cobra'd"

No one is mentioning how technically **** Gavin was at the weekend. Could not even slip a Brook jab jab, which is embarrassing from our only ever world amateur champion. All anyone is talking about is his weight issues.

If Gavin was a lightweight he still couldn't pick up a world title, because he is not a very good boxer.

He's not technically a poor fighter. The skill is there we just aren't seeing it. He's thrown his career away and that's entirely his own fault but it's not because he 'couldn't' box.

Boxers a who aren't every good don't pick up WORLD AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS and beat some of the very best amateurs going.

Watch round one again and tell me if his movement againts a decent jab was acceptable. It's ok slipping the slow jab of the terrified skeet.

All gavin does is duck and hold onto his opponents waste, slipping a jab would enable you to come back with something.

He only won the amateur world title with pit pat slaps and then running away something he can't do on the pro game.

Anyone with a decent dig in the ww division will walk through him.

Gavin WAS technically a good fighter only problem was this was in the AM's/ You will prob find that he was not able to perform due to the amount he had to take in Kell was better in every dept almost. Frankie had no tools to bother Kell at all. Kell should have had him outta there quicker IMO.

I do not think it's simply a boxing question, it's personality.

Groves has upset people with his childish and arrogant attitude, Gavin is very likeable that's why Groves gets more hammer in my opinion.

DeGale will be the people's favourite if they fight again, the tables have turned. Groves will hear more boo's than cheers if he fights DeGale.

The impression I get from talking to people is Groves is actually rather disliked these days.

i didnt say in the pro's chief just the Am's. Iv never been overly impressed by Gavin, i also think that it may have been realising after he turned pro that he aint as suited to this as the am's he hasnt changed his style much and i think once he realised he wouldnt be at the top in the pro's the motivation just hasnt been there to push himself more. That said the weight issues did start in the build up to the olympics so this may have been the start. End of the day at present he aint good enough to be challenging at top level and will finish his career at domestic level ending up becomming a journeyman no doubt as he hasnt made fantastic money in the pro's

He's fairly likeable & has always seemed keen to fight anyone that's why he's never lambasted. Unfortunately now it has to be accepted that he really doesn't belong at that level. For a while a lot of people hoped that his defensive skills meant that he couldn't look good unless he fought someone who went at him but that clearly wasn't the case he just simply wasn't as good as some fought. To be honest I'd be careful where to go as I wouldn't be overly confident with him against some domestic opponents

But Groves is clearly a better boxer then Gavin with much better attributes. Speed, power, movement a better jab, better head movement and better punch variation. Yet because of gavins amateur credentials people like sheep are still talking as if he is a decent boxer...he isn't.

Saturday was cringe to watch and Brook is possibly the weakest champion at 147
