Him being obsolete now is not the same as him being taken down as the longest reigning champion in MMA.

Seriously; how can he go from laying waste to everybody, finishing BJ Penn, and then overnight lose it all in between fights and become irrelevant? GSP didn't "figure him out" he outperformed him. It wasn't some big mystery; "gee, what can you possibly do to stop Hughes?" it was a matter of being able to do it. Who else in the world, at that time, could have done that? Nobody.

When the reason people think somebody is past their prime is because of what YOU did to them, its pretty apparant that you should get the credit for putting him out of his prime.

The more accurate way of saying what you are saying is "The only fighter to survive a fight with GSP lately has been Fitch, just barely, after taking such a beating all anybody could talk about was how tough he was"

Since the Serra fight nobody has had any portion of the fight where they were clearly beating GSP in any aspect; he's really only ever clearly been losing a fight 3 times; one sequence in Hughes 1, the first round in BJ 1, and the Serra knockout.

Well compared to the fighers fighting today, the fighters Hughes was "dominantly ruling the division over" are not up to snuff. He finished Penn yeah, after Penn badly gassed out and broke his rib...Penn WAS putting on a clinic in that fight and finished him the first time around.
    I'll say this:
Fitch, Kos, Diego and Alves would all beat the Matt Hughes from the second GSP fight.

How surprising, an excuse from BJ; no medical suspension, no surgery.

Trigg, young GSP, Sakurai, Sherk, Newton; if you don't think those guys were "up to snuff" you simply have no idea what you are talking about.

Just brushing aside BJ or sherk is like dissmissing Ezzard Charles, Gene Tunney, and Evander Holyfield; it is completly in the face of historical perspective.

Why are you discounting GSP's dominating victories over Miller, Trigg, and Paryisan?

And to paraphrase the words of Antonio Tarver - if Matt Hughes was shot - then GSP is the one who shot him.

Ii have heard the broken rib excuse before but is there any truth to it? Him and his fans are just accustom to making excuses I just wonder if it's even true.
