    Interesting video.

Interesting to hear how athletically weak he was before he came to crossfit.

I think a lot of boxerss till lag way behind other sportspeople when it comes to S+C training. Theres still a mentality of "I cant do weights, they'll slow me down"

It doesbnt need to be crossfit, but boxers need to get with the times and have legitimate S+C coaches rather than having some old timey trainer telling them to randomly run 6 miles a day.

Crossfit is an excellent way to injure yourself but there's really no proof it translates into improved performance in the ring. I know a number of people who have suffered serious, nagging knee, back, shoulder injuries from the overtraining that crossfit promotes.

Call me old fashioned, but I've always thought basic exercises, i.e. hitting the bag, sparring, roadwork, skipping rope to get in shape. Swimming and cycling are also good.

the best fighters are usually the one's who look scrawny and weak at first impression, the chiseled "bodybuilder" types have usually been on multiple occasions exposed, like Price or Berto

So you think if those scrawny fighters had been stronger and generally better athletes, it wouldnt have helped them?

take a look at GG or even Floyd, they don't have bodybuilder's physique, and they're doing very well for themselves

I'm not saying more muscle mass is a bad thing, some guys like Bradley do well with a great physique, but most fighters have a regular athletic built

    Nobody is talking about bodybuilding.

    We're talking about sports S+C.

I just think that boxing shouldnt be stuck in the dark ages when it comes to conditioning.

Compare basketballers from today to ones from the 70s for example.

Crossfit is just one example of what boxers could do.

Boxing doesn't have to be stuck in the dark ages.

I just think that the essential exercises, i.e. punching bag, swimming, running, sparring aren't what should be improved. Instead, the way to improve is in monitoring rest, preventing overtraining, and measuring body chemistry.

When fighters poop out mid-fight, it usually isn't because they haven't worked hard enough. More often than not, its because they have lingering injuries, they're overtrained, under rested, or they've just invested in the wrong kind of training, thus promoting the wrong kid of cardio.

Science intensive trainers like Pedro Diaz and Abel Sanchez are more likely to drive boxing into the 21st century with their focus on rest, efficiency, and technique than some dummy who does 'L Sits' for a living.

Road work is the most dumbest thing you can do while training boxing.
What the hell can a 10 mile run do for a boxing match? Its not even the same energy system, and yet you are doing it constantly.
Listening to most boxing coaches when it comes to s&c is useless. Most of them dont know how to show a proper squat.
