It's not a different level smartass, it's a different form of boxing under different rules. Put the top pros in vs. the top amateurs under AIBA rules and the majority will lose. With that said, Rigo has to look for more aggression. Not getting hit ONCE in certain rounds is great but the style he uses is not crown-pleasing at all. He has the tools, simply needs to head back to Roach on work on his offense. Also, move down to 118lbs, he gave away 9 pounds fight night which is huge.
He can't continue with that kind of gameplan unless he wants to give away rounds and ultimately lose matches because of it.
yeah a bit over hyped but a shitload of talent there imo, the right gameplan and mindset he will be alright
What rigondeaux did on saturday is called boxing. Get yourselves aquainted with the concept. Rigondeaux will beat anyone in the weightclass
No problem. Seemed appropriate since you insulted amateur boxing. Let's just wait and see how he looks a dozen fights from now, at 19, you know, when 90% of the top prospects still isn't at world level yet.
When did I insult amateur boxing? I said he was great as a amateur but I don't think he going to do well as a Pro.
It's unlikely he'll have he same success as a pro, that's true... still, there's no level or class difference, but rule difference.
Yep. There were several rounds the other night where he lost them because he simply did not throw punches and just circled the ring with no intention of engaging. That will eventually cost him. He's still fighting like an amateur.
Don't forget Cordoba is a f*cking annoying guy to fight stylewise. HE was the one reluctant to engage in the first rounds and HE was the one running. Style-wise Cordoba is an annoying guy to fight for nearly everyone. Let alone if it is just your 7th pro fight. Hell the guy somehow beat Caballero (not that Cab is great, but still). Awful matchmaking for Rigo to show off his skills and step up against a guy like this.
