    Haha!

Must ask my Cuban friend-whose relative is Iglesias, the only gold medalist en el mundo mundial en Milan this year-if there were any blancos in his gym in La Havanna when he trained there together with Lara,Rigondeaux,Hernandez, and so on!

    I will explain to you...

First of all, todays Cuban population is like this: 40-45% pure Black, 35-40% Mulatos ( racially mixed between a Black and a white ), and the rest of the 20% are pure white...The Cuban population In the US it's actually the opposite, and I will explain to you later on this post why!

So, the vast majority of all Cubans ( on the Island of Cuba, not US ) are either 100% Black or partially Black, with only a minority being white...

This was not always the case as in the early 1900's Cuba's Black population were a minority ( roughly around 10 or 15% ) and the majority were whites...

What happened then? Well, as Castro took over in 1959 and the Cubans started fleeing the Island, the vast majority of all Cubans leaving Cuba were 95% whites. This is why the Cubans in the US are 95% whites...

Now, 3 factors as to why 95% of the Afro-Cubans stayed back in Cuba.

#1- Castro brainwashed and convinced the Cuban Blacks making them think that Blacks in the US were very racially mistreated and segregated, which was true but he made them have a " fear " of coming to the USA as back in Cuba Castro gave them total freedom and welcomed them to be equally as Cuba's whites. This caused that most of the Afro-Cubans stayed in Cuba, and the whites continued to flee the Island by the hundreds of thousands!

#2- Most of the Cuban Blacks did'nt had any relatives in the US, thus making them want to stay at home back in Cuba.

#3- Since Fidel gave them a lot of freedom and equality, now they felt very " grateful " to Castro for making their lifes better, but of course now they realize that that was a " mirage "...

Back to boxing. It's very safe to say that 98% of all Cuban boxers ( coming from Cuba ) are Black or Mulatos. Why? Well, first of all they love fighting as they fight on the streets every single day, so might as well get involved in boxing! The Whites on the other hand, are not that much into sports but when they decide to enter a sport mostly of the time is not boxing, it's actually Baseball, Tennis, Table Tennis, fencing etc...

Another very important factor, since Blacks " excell " so much in sports, this is why Cuba has " excelled " so much in sports! Thanks to our BLACKS!!! :good

another reason is ,most boxers from Cuba are from the east-Santiago de Cuba,Guantanamo,Holguin,Las Tunas-where the population is more than 80% black.

He was an exceptional boxer as well, I remember his win at the olympic final, against if I remember well a Russian, I was really impressed with him, almost in the same way I was impressed by Yudel Johnson, who won silver(in 2000 or 2004?). However Jorge is probably too old to become professional, probably he is now working the fields with the "Yunta" in some unknown Cuban farm.

out of the ones fighting in cuba the ones that would be really good pros in my opinion are iglesias (21 or so), uggas (23, now is the time to leave) amd emilio correa. havent you noticed how uggas hasnt been on the national team since the olympics , word is that he got kicked out, he probably is trying to flee as well. the tihng is theres a lot of no name boxers that have defected in the last year we need to get this 3 guys out of there. i know correa wont buit the other 2 have a possibility

That's a pretty epic post there! :good Interesting reading.

I'd put slightly more blame on Batista for the "Where'd all the white folks go?" :huh with the, ahhhhh, selective plane ticket reservations. The misinformation and segregation since then is all Castro, of course.
