Guzman needs outside help to beat Alex Arthur?

The only tools Arthur might be able to beat Guzman with are the ones in his garage.

Arthur has a below average china and compared to Guzman has no reflexes, no speed, no real strength, no power and is predictable. As you well know Dunky.

The only thing I know is that you are in for the shock of your life if you think Arthur is so overmatched against Guzman.
You really should watch some Guzman fights closely my man, for all his flashiness he has major flaws. Trust me, im more than confident Arthur can & will beat Guzman.
In fact, I honestly laugh to myself when I see guys like you overrate Guzman so much. He aint all that, as you should well know China.

Damn, how did I forget to say, remember & be here when Arthur wins China. I have a big last laugh building up,& I want everyone who has told me Guzman wins this one to be here when Arthur wins. Cos I want to laugh in all of the Arthur doubting haters faces. & the funny thing is, Guzman has a weakness so blatantly obvious Im almost wetting myself trying to conceal my laugh! & what makes it so funny is I am sure Alex has spotted it also watching videos of Guzman.

Thats why I keep telling you folks to watch Guzman more closely before its too late, cos he aint what you think he is. Hes a nightmare to fight cos he runs like a chicken & poses to fool judges etc, but hes in trouble this time, cos Arthur has the 3 main tools to get rid of Guzman inside the distance. just wait & see.

 

Guzman doesn't need help. He could have Teddy Atlas in his corner and still win. Arthur just isn't good enough.

Another poster who sees Guzman as so great, Im loving it What I would like to know is, what is it you see in Guzman that makes you think he just needs to turn up to win? Im guessing its the showing off & posing, british fight fans love arrogant posers, & mistake them for being great fighters when 9 out of 10 times they are not.

Anyway, theres too much bitchassness going on in this thread at the moment.

lets get it back on topic, & Guzman lovers(where did you all come from all off a sudden?) lets hear valid reasons as to why hes going to beat Arthur in your 'small'(teehee ) minds.

& none of this "cos hes too great & Arthur is too not great" stuff, Im bored with that already. If you boys are so confident about Guzman, you must have a picture in your silly Guzman loving heads of just how exactly Guzman is going to pull it off in front of a hostile Edinburgh crowd. You think Guzman is so tough? well I have seen the toughest go down in my lifetime.

 

I just hope when the crowd are in awe of Guzman's reflexes, speed and accuracy they embrace the man.

Why Guzman will win? He has an excellent Mayweather Shoulder Roll defence and an excellent chin. Very Fast hands and a great counter puncher. I see him rolling at the way of anything Arthur throws at him and counter him all night. He also can be a big puncher and hurt Barios. If Arthur exchanges too much he will be in trouble and be put away

I see Guzman as a poor mans Mayweather, which is a league above the European level Alex Arthur

If Arthur wins major props to him, I don't see it happening. Maybe if he constantly moves and throws 50 jabs a round he can make it a closer show.

 

Mayweather lacks Guzmans reflexes and speed. Guzman is the better physical specimin, Mayweather is a little more educated.

 

Frank Warren hasn't been to vocal regarding Arthur's chances in this bout, but hats off to Arthur for taking it, he is taking on a very much live opponent in Guzman. I hope he can pull it off, but Guzman is undefeated for a reason, he is technically very good, i hope Alex can raise his game, otherwise it will be a very hard nights work ahead of him.

 

Ok...since some people just seem to be saying things without any back-up, I thought i'd see how I (in all my wisdom) see it...pro's and con's:

Alex Arthur:

Pros:

• Excellent range of shots - especially to the body
• A good, proven dig at Super Featherweight
• Big and strong for the weight...not easily bullied
• Good chin - can take a lot of good shots

Cons:

• Defence can be a let down - concentration slips
• Very slow starter normally
• Liable to get caught up in the moment
• Massive step up in class (Guzman)

Joan Guzman:

Pros:

• Fantastic hand speed
• Excellent defence - keeps out of range well
• Good pedigree - has won some big fights
• Naturally very talented

Cons:

• Taking things lightly here - lack of respect
• Has not carried his 'little tyson' power up at all
• I've seen his concentration dip - could be costly
• Smaller man - reach and size

Ok, so i'm not going into a massive amount of depth above, but thats the key points that stick out for me. A lot of people have joined the bandwagon of 'Guzman will win because...er...he's Guzman don't you know'...a tad daft.

Now don't get me wrong, Guzman is strong favourite, and rightly so. For Alex to win it would take a lot of things to fall nicely into place, but that isn't an impossible shot. Arthur has looked pretty average in his last few fights (mainly I think due to frustration at not getting a shot like this).

If he can't get himself up and pumping for this fight, he never will. And similarly, if he does, and Guzman turns up without full commitment, well...the odds could be upset without a doubt.
