I hope guzman get's his stuff back together. He looked to have about 60% of his speed in the funeka fight. His defensive discipline has always been a question but fighting a guy like funeka isn't a good way to guage his comeback. I'm glad to see this one because Guzman is a fast guy who doesn't shy away from trading and katsidis brings it all 12 rounds.

no. The only thing we'll see is that Katsidis is not on Funeka's level. And thats pretty much something we can see already anyways.

I disagree. Guzman was taking the fight to Funeka for the first few rounds before his face started coming apart, which was contributed to by a Funeka headbutt. All the bleeding seemed to sapp something out of him.

Im not trying to make excuses because, its boxing, you have to deal with adversity sometimes. I just don't think that Guzman looked all that bad in the fight even though he clearly should have lost. Besides, Funeka is a much tougher opponent than Katsidis.

the speed difference often decreases as the fight goes on. Especially when the fast guy is not landing much, being forced to work hard to land his punches.

Guzman was 100% against Funeka. Don't doubt it. It was a tough style matchup against a good fighter. Katsidis is an easy style matchup against a crappy fighter. Its not the same.

makes total sense. Even though the SCENE has an article about Guzman being back in line to fight Funeka, that fight has a lot of promotional hangups.

Guzman cruises in this fight and solidifies his Hall of Fame credentials.

Guzman beats Katsidis in a boring fight, Guzman isn't the most exciting fighter. Guzman got beat up by Funeka but that was a totally different style and fighter. Funeka would brutalize Katsidis.

I'd like to see a Katsidis-Diaz rematch or maybe even a fight with either Soto or David Diaz. Those are all entertaining and competitive fights but a match up with Guzman isn't very appealing.

Katsidis-Diaz wasn't very entertaining the first time around and I'm not sure it'd be much better the second go. Those other two names, especially Soto, might be nice, but won't be happening due to conflicting promoters.

Yeah, the first Katsidis-Diaz fight was a letdown but I think Diaz is not the same fighter he was then. Katsidis is on a hot streak and Diaz is on a very cold one. I think Diaz wins a rematch but its much closer and probably better.

I can't see Soto facing Katsidis due to promotional issues either but its a good fight if it ever happened.

I hate Guzman. I hate his style of boxing. I hate his phony intimidation before fights. I hate the judges who gave him a draw in his last fight against Funeka (Yeah I bet on Funeka at like 2-1 and lost my bet).

But as much as I hate Guzman, Katsidis is made to order for him. Katsidis will do well against guys who stand in front of him, but movers will pick him apart. I wouldn't be surprised if Guzman wins every round against him.

So long as Diaz isn't involved I'm happy. Sick to death of that kid.
