Bull****. Dariusz wasn't in the class of Toney or Hopkins or as difficult as Johnson.

    Enjoy your revisionism.

oh yeh he did that, but by 2008 joe calzaghe was able to lie to his welsh and hardcore fans any which way he pleased and get away with it.

some of them still cant get over the fact that he lied yet.

    :)

And this is why you're one of my favourite posters...

It's a mickey-take that Joe fought RJJ in 2008. I wish people would let that sink in for a minute.

In his last two fights, Joe's opponents were nigh-on 100 years old between them. He's a fraud, an insecure one at that.

Toney meant a lot. The Hopkins win wouldn't have meant as much as DM.

That Hopkins Roy fought was miles away from what he'd develop in to. He wasn't a championship level fighter at that point, but it's a win that's aged pheomenally.

Mythical, incense infused nonsense does rate high with me.

It would have been a good fight. Don't get me wrong. But I think beating Hopkins and Toney, in hindsight, were better victories. Add Johnson, Hill, McCallum, Griffin and Ruiz and you have a pretty stunning resume. Almost everyone misses someone along the way.

I have him in the top dozen all-time.

I don't put much stock in what he did or didn't do after Ruiz.

I don't see how anyone can rationally hold that Roy Jones Jr. becomes less great due to losses he sustained post-2003.
The man was 35 years old already and had been a sensational fighter for over a decade.

The question of how high you rate him now should be basically the same as how high you rate him for his work pre-2004.

I don't think post-2003 "proved" anything. No one should judge Ezzard Charles or Muhammad Ali or Evander Holyfield from their "totally shot" fights either.

Only ONE poster (redrooster) on these forum over the years seems to judge Sugar Ray Leonard for his losses to Norris and Camacho, and he has dozens of opponents in those discussions.
That's the equivalent of judging Roy Jones Jr. for his post-2003 career.

The hype on Roy Jones Jr after Ruiz fight was incredible.
Had he retired at the time he would have been rated as
a ATG with a * as he had never been truly tested as
he never had a nemesis like Ali , Leonard, Hagler , Duran
    did.
