After doing some short reaserch i came up with this: "For this fight I've made Manny more of a counter puncher. Ricky's aggressiveness is going to get him into trouble. "I think this fight will go a little way but I do believe Manny will knock him out before the end. I know Ricky's a resilient, tough guy, so we're going to go some rounds." this was from another interview within this week. So i guess he hasnt been so consistent with the 3 round thing. Because that could even have a negative effect on pacquiao.
I don't see the purpose of the 3 round thing. Ricky ain't going to change his style in fear of Roach's 3 round prediction before coming on. And it possibly puts pressure on Pacquiao. I don't see any upside in it.
I think that roach is really trying to set the table here, and get Hatton to rush Pac. I think that Roach knows it Hatton slows down and fights at a measured pace Pac will be in more trouble. Hatton has shown that he can deal somewhat with faster fighters, and since working with Floyd Sr he hasnt been rushing in on guys as much. Granted its only been a couple of fights but you can see the difference. I think that Roach wants the version of Hatton that was there pre floyd.
Roach's 3rd round KO is just hype and psyche war thing. Manny himself said he's not going for a knockout. In that case, I expect Manny to school Hatton all night long.
If anybody believes anything said by any trainer or fighter at a press conference or lead up to a fight, they're crazy. Some of it might be true, but you have no idea what that is. I'm pretty sure Freddie will be perfectly happy if Pac wins in the 5th.
pac would work on the body...6 rounds is enough...3 rounds is too early for a smart fighter like pacquiao
Yea but pacman is a much better fighter now. He is not as reckless as before when he was younger. Expectation were high too against barrera rematch. Everybody expected manny to KO barrera like the first time but he didn't. He fought smart and didn't get careless. I expect manny to do the same in this fight. Fight smart and when an oppurtunity arrives to finish his opponent then i can see him taking it. If not i see him fighting smart to beat his opponent via judges scorecards if the Knockout doesn't appear to be there.
i still belive that Ricky is a bit underrated,compared to pacman. I THINK Hatton is a lot faster on hands and footwork,and he will cause pacman trouble. I KNOW how fast pacman is,but i don´t think he´s so mutch faster than Hatton. I THINK it will be a war,and that the fight will go between 8-10 rounds. I think it´s a 50/50 fight. And i hope Hatton wins it!
Roach feels the need to trash talk to get the PPV numbers higher. I think this instruction might even come from the Bobfather. However Roach is one of the crappiest trash talkers ever.
