Its hardly comparable to those fights. Bentley got destroyed in a few rounds easily by Felix Cash in a British title fight, and Hamzah got completely schooled by a retired Bradley Skeete. Hes had 17 fights and been a pro for 6 years. If he isn't ready for a British title fight now he'll never be. He's has a very soft padded record against poor fighters with low KO ratios so far. I think they are hiding something, and the Skeete fight showed it really. When he finally faces a puncher, wouldn't be surprised at all if it's curtains early.
Skeete did a very good job messing him around for 7 rounds, using a modified Ingle gym style, however Hamza caught up with him and would have stopped him regardless. That argie kid Torres and even Jez Smith were better than Skeete and both were blitzed by Hamza. River Wilson Bent looked like he had been run over by a lorry and was dispatched in 2 rounds. If you honestly think Sheeraz is a phoney, then I would have to question your knowledge of the sport
Skeete was nowhere near his best either. He was a pretty skillful dude back in his hey day. I remember him boxing circles around Sam Eggington when he was still kind of being talked up. Still think Sheeraz is a decent prospect. I think he'll do well.
He turned over young and is only 23 years old. As soon as he beats Bentley he will be thrust into fighting world level fighters earlier then he should be.
Your posts sound like you work for Queensbury or are part of Sheeraz's team or something, so you don't exactly have a unbiased view! Skeete made him look completely stupid, schooled him for more than 7 rounds, made him look like a slow, robotic, one dimensional hypejob fraud. The tide was turning at the end, but we were robbed of seeing what would happen, good chance Skeete would have hung on. And no those other three you mentioned are not better than Skeete lol, they are bums so beating them is irrelevant. Sheeraz has beaten absolutely nobody yet, I agree with the guy who you're quoting. He's like a pound shop, aldi version of Callum Smith. I expect him to be exposed brutally as soon as he steps up.
Ok, so let’s break it down abit more; Sheeraz v River Wilson Bent RWB has just recently gone 8 rounds with Austin Williams. Sheeraz massacred him in under 2 rounds. I doubt Skeete goes 8 with him. Sheeraz v Jez Smith Jez knocked down in the 1st and sent to the moon in the second by Sheeraz and he hasn’t fought since- Hamza has probably retired him. Prior to that he had a war with Kerman Lejarraga and put him down twice before getting stopped in the late rounds. In contrast Skeete got stopped in under 2 rounds and posed zero problems when he fought Kermin. Jeez also went into the late rounds with Caoimhin Agyarko and Samuel Antwi. In the case of Agyarko I don’t think anybody would be saying that Skeete would pose much of a problem to him. Sheeraz v Francisco Torres Torres a tough Argentine, who got a draw, but probably should have gotten the decision against Jose Benavidez Jr. Benavidez Jnr went 12 with Danny Garcia and stopped on a knee injury in the 12th against Terrance Crawford. Stopped in 5 by Hamza. Sheeraz v Skeete At the time a slight step up in competition for Hamza and at weight he shouldn’t have been fighting at - after this fight he moved up to middleweight where he should have been in the first place. Skeete did a great job, but Hamza was starting to cut him off from the 8th and knocked him down. Yes, Bradley was clipped whilst down, but they were not powerful hits and he was hurt anyway by the Knockdown and got extra time due to the foul. Now, nobody can say for certain, but IMO Bradley was going to get cleaned out regardless. Skeete was offered a big purse to rematch Hamza. I give him a lot of credit, as a lot of fighters would have taken the payday, but clearly he didn’t want anything more to do with Sheeraz because he know what’s what. I’m not here trying to knock Bradley Skeete , who was a very good euro operator. He performed excellently in one last stand against Hamza, but ultimately he was cut off and stopped. Hamza is still on the come up and we will have to see how far he can really go, but anybody who thinks he’s a fraud or some kind of bum, doesn’t know the sport.
@Dragon Punch like I said you're a huge Sheeraz fanboy or Queensbury employee so your opinion is not rational and is very biased. Comparing fights like that doesn't mean ****. Styles make fights. I could easily do that and say, Diego Ramirez and Lejaragga KO'd Skeete in 2 rounds, whereas Sheeraz got schooled by Skeete and could only win late and controversially. Skeete was never even European level, he was British level, feather fisted, chinny, past his best and out of retirement ( then immediately after went back into retirement!) So it's alarming that he could have so much trouble with him. If you think Sheeraz has had anything other than completely padded, soft opponents then you are out of touch with reality and I have no words. You are desperately clutching at straws. Jez Smith is a journeyman, nothing more. And that Argentine he faced is poor, and has no power so it's embarrassing that he dropped Sheeraz. I don't think you know the sport if you think Sheeraz is this top talent yoy claim him to be. I expect your comments won't age well. I'd describe him as better than Joe Pigford but not quite as good as Rocky Fielding. Like I said, a pound shop version of Callum Smith!
your totally ignoring how good brad skeete was he was a brilliant slick boxer very smart in the ring wasnt feather fisted he had pop on his punches thats how he could keep folk of he wasnt a ko merchant granted but he had enuff to keep folk honest he is a match for anybody and would make them work hard for there victory as i say hes no world beater hes a game tricky opponent with skill and fitness he would make anybody work hard that is for sure i would also say he got even smarter as he got older the retirement did him good he studied the game kept in gym came back with fresh legs and he gave it a good go i didnt like how it ended up but it was a contest of two high level operators
Sheeraz made Skeete look good because he was so poor! There was nothing 'brilliant' about Bradley Skeete , he was just a regular british title level guy, who we later found out was packing a serious glass chin Even Frankie Gavin had a higher KO ratio than Skeete, so that tells you everything about his punch power!
gavin was a talent though wasnt he but personally i liked skeete has he was slick he was a stylish boxer and he could keep folk honest his jab was stinging at times he never made most of his talent in that area he could of been more aggressive i do think your under rating him but everyone has opinion mine is he was bloody good
Hamzah was very tight at the weight when he fought Bradley. Bradley was even mentioning in the press conference before the fight saying he thinks Hamzah is struggling to make 154lbs being 6'4 lol hence Hamzah moved to 160lbs after the Bradley fight ..
Bit early to say wouldn't you agree? I know it's a strange phenomenon on this board but fighters can actually improve and become better. Let's reserve our judgements for now.
