Hard for me to be excited about golovkin fight this weekend

I know he has a hard time getting fights but who else fights guys from the weight class under them back to back

 

Ishida's last fight was at 160

 

I view him as a 154 guy his two biggest fights have been at 154 as have most of his fights

 

That's a bit like calling Narvaez a bantamweight after he fought Donaire.

Ishida is tall for the division, but he very much fits at 154. (like Williams)

 

What can you expect?

GOLOVKIN HAS A SMALL FOLLOWING + HE IS TOO HIGH RISK.

 

I expect Golovkin vs. Pirog, damn it. I've been waiting years, now.

I don't care whose fault it is, who got injured, or who has been ducking. Just GET IT ON already.

I care more about that one than most idiots care(d) about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao for most of the last half decade.

But it's not like Golovkin is bringing another fighter from 154 to 160, Ishida already fought at that weight (and was competitive).

 

Ishida is no world beater but this could potentially turn out to be a very tough fight

 

Ishida is tough and has never been knocked out. If GGG can stop him then it would be very impressive. I expected a clear UD for him, though.

 

Golovkin should fight Martinez.

 

The problem with Golovkin is that he gets treated and respected far above his actual accomplishment level warrants.

Ishida is not a complete scrub of an opponent. However he has lost just about all 24 rounds in his last two fights against Williams and Pirog. He is also a "natural 154 pounder." I'll give him the proper amount of credit for whatever fight takes place.

It is better than not fighting, period.

But when his whole career has been compiled of filler and just a few "solid decent opponents" than it is realistic to expect or hope more from him.

 

It is not his fault that everyone avoids him.
