Hardest punches ever landed: Wilder's right on Artur Spzilka and Liahkovich. Dustin Nichols's check jab that landed on Wilder. Tyson Fury's uppercut that landed on himself. Luis Ortiz's bicep shot which nearly took Alexander Flores's head off.
Not one punch but 5 right hands in a row by George Groves on Carl Froch, all power punches, how did Froch not go down? Groves wasn’t exactly feather fisted but Froch was one tough nut. This content is protected
Marciano Vs. Walcott; the final punch should be mentioned. By the effect and by the expression on Walcott's face...
Perfect example of a hard punch with no KD but still resulted in a stoppage would be Pac's punch against Lucero. Lucero was still standing up but was clearly out of it. Nasty shot. This content is protected
Bruno’s left hook against Tyson in 1989. According to Mike he later described being hit by that shot as being hit by electricity, and he didn’t know whether he was kd down or not!
The punch by Shavers that KD'd Holmes. Lewis right hand vs Rahman II Hearns v Duran Tyson's uppercut v Ribalta Tyson's cross v Golota
The thread starter literally names "Mugabi's uppercut versus Hagler. Arguello straight right against Pryor Lewis uppercut versus klitschko." as examples and the first page is laced with non heavyweight replies so i think virtually everyone realised it was P4P etc.
Lol, it seems people still aren’t reading the “fine print” in the OP’s post OR your clear reaffirmation of same as above.
Okay, I think I’ve got what you’re saying. That Mugabi’s uppercut and Arguello’s straight were, in absolute terms, as powerful as Lewis’ uppercut. I love your work JT, but that’s some crazy **** you’re saying right there. The Ts and Cs clearly do not specify P4P, therefore we’re obviously defaulting into absolutes. People often say Hagler had one of the best chins ever - I reply, “Are you kidding? I love Marv but there’s no way he’s staying on his feet let alone surviving the absolute hardest shots that the likes of Ali, Chuvalo etc. ever took without their going down.
Of course folks generally understood this. I am saying that it is best to start the post with the accurate qualifier that we are talking pound for pound. Because some posts for years indicate that This content is protected guys actually think the hardest punchers can be smaller guys. Not just some overlap & rarely a guy punches as hard as big hitters multiple divisions up, but there have been many reminders to folks who somehow believe otherwise. So some realize that it is fine to quote best in the division, but not necessarily what most do-that it does not apply in absolute terms. I remember a Sports Illustrated article that said somewhat in a very light division tested as hitting harder than anyone up to 154. Even then it may be that sometimes a guy does not go full force-I recall a video showing a specific woman hitting harder than a man, but he threw a power punch not basically a jab like him. And the machines have well-documented & recently discussed vagueries & innacuracies re: actual force accurately recorded. There absolutely are people who do not know or need reminding that as hard & sharp as say "The Beast" hit, it is not rivaling any hard hitting HW. Although maybe as hard as all but the hardest punching LHWs is possible?
Trust me when i say This content is protected was possibly thinking the thread starter was potentially implying Alexis Arguello's right hand was as hard or around as hard as the Lewis uppercut. They would be logging on from the looney bin if so and at the end of the day it would be pretty hard to cater for that level of dumb. I've got a helluva lot more confidence than that in my fellow forumites
