Among the greats Lennox Lewis' overhand right or George Foreman's right hook seemed to be very heavy.
I have to say Foreman. Think about how much he accomplished with power alone. I am not saying he didn't have skills, but I don't think he had the skills of Tyson, and I am not familiar enough with Shavers to be sure... but I think they were comparable at best. Foreman basically blasted people with power shots. He got to the Olympics and won with less than 30 amateur fights. Tyson and Shavers are close seconds, Tua is a great candidate, but maybe a little less than Tyson and Shavers. How many 1 round knockouts did Shavers have?
1. Ernie Shavers-Huge legendary power even Ali admitted that Shavers hit like a truck. At one time had a 98% knockout ratio. 2. George Foreman-great slugger with scary power. 3. Sonny Liston-Hardest jab and killer right hand. 4. Max Baer-great ko power with two deaths. 5. Jack Dempsey -was an animal with 51 ko's and broke Willards jaw and put him down 7 times in the first round. 6. Primo Carnera-70 ko's including one death. 7. Jim Jeffries-fastest ko in a title fight with 55 seconds, was feared by everyone and retired undefeated . 8. Joe frazier-great left hook. 9. Rocky Marciano-undefeated champion with amazing power dispite being so short. 10. Joe Louis-The Brown Bomber was something special.
bonecrusher had the best nickname ever...but he was more of a clubber, no crazy power like tyson, shavers, tua, ruddock, foreman, liston ect
Let's not forget Ron Lyle. :nono Ron Lyle, even after fighting the GREATEST HW FIGHT IN HISTORY with Big George Foreman says the hardest puncher he ever fought was Earnie Shavers. Nice interview at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nl8rabZMIA
Earnie Shavers George Foreman everyone after that is debatable. But those two stand out above the rest for me.
