In my opinion size won't be a factor. Marg is the same size as Oscar. And Pac didn't have a hard time finding DLH at all. Harry does a good job at hyping up the fight. Made some valid points. My excitement level for this fight went from -5 to about a 0. Not all Pac fights are worth my money but they're all definitely worth watching.

Ooohh. Here comes "Chris" the hot shot kid out of nowhere ripping into my soul with his cute little poem that he's been practicing in the basement all day. He wears a superhero cape and thinks he's the mightiest trash talker on ESB. Cue the melodramatic music!

The truth is this. I love the sport and just the sport only. I leech on to no boxer. No mother****er in boxing pays my rent or knows my name. Unlike a hyper sensitive rose petal like you I don't give a flying **** about what Mayweather does or says. I watch selected fights in which I call things as I see fit. I'm a spectator. I watch fights. I don't sit around with a glass of wine, a box of tissues, and a bucket of ice cream like you and your cronies who shed a tear for every heartbreaking moment.

Not necessarily...But Arum does have more to gain with a Margarito win. I highly doubt Pac would ever agree to throw a fight at this stage of his career.....But crazier things have happened.

I've been mulling that one back and forth.

I agree that Arum's engineered a position where he's sitting relatively pretty no matter who wins. But I can't quite get the maths to work out to the point where it would be better for him if Margo won.

    Care to explain how so?

Pacquiao is on the way out, atleast according to Pac himself...So if his cash cow is retiring, it makes sense for Arum to build up a fighter with one of the biggest and most loyal following this sport has...Mexicans....

Once Pac retires, Arum will need another cash cow...Margarito would be the easiest to Market...imagine if Margarito beats the roid user Mexicutioner?? He would go directly back into the spotlight and be starring in mega events.

Margarito isn't in any position to be a future cash cow. If he had any sort of value to Mexicans, that stupid Latin Fury ppv he headlined would have sold more then it did. Mexicans are quick to rally behind him for a Pacquiao fight, don't get me wrong, but I think it's because it's a Pacquiao fight.

If Arum was going to milk the Mexican money machine, it'd be JCC Jr. That's the most obvious choice:patsch

That's one way of looking at it, yes. But it has a couple of problems.

Firstly, Margarito is nowhere near as well regarded or widely-known as Pac on a global level. Margo's already taken the mother of all ass-whoopins; he's somewhat damaged goods as far as marketability goes. Sure, he can bring three car-loads of mexicans (which is thousands) with him, but it's nothing like Pac's crossover appeal.

Secondly, I'm not buying the "vanquishing the PED user" angle. Pac's PEDness is wholly unproven and only alleged in whispers from the shadows, whereas Margo has been caught red-handed -- literally -- in a no less shine-removing situation which has the potential to rub off on Arum too. I'm not sure how that would stack up.

Yes, Arum would want to keep some level of hype within top rank if he could, but his chances of doing that with Margarito are slim. His best bet would be to milk Pacquiao for as long as he can (which is exactly what he has been doing: 3 largely-unasked-for fights against in-house opposition) before putting him out on the global stage against someone big (like Mayweather) just at the end of his run. Whether Pac wins or loses at that point doesn't matter to Arum. He'll make far more money doing that than he will by trying to craft Margo as his next 'hero'.

No: his best outcome would be for Margo to lose, although not too badly; very narrow. If Margo wins now, that's all the "final super-massive fight" money down the drain, and it'd take years to get that from Margo, even if he could manage it. Whereas if Pac wins now, the net loss is much lower, and he can still build Margo into something if he feels like it.

The open question is whether Margo can be built into something. I think we can all see an all-too-predictable Cotto rematch coming down the pipe, but where can he go beyond that?

    U dumb.

Imagine how HUGE Margarito would be if he beat Pacquiao!

Arum can start promoting him like he does Pacquiao and set him up against decent names who pose little threat, ut make it seem like it is a 50/50.

After Pacquaio he can doa U.S. vs MX against Pavlik....He can do a SM rematch for the existing MX-ARG rivalry in soccer and bring it to boxing, he can also try to make a fight against Mayweather, against Cotto...damn, a lot of **** Arum can do if Margarito wins...

Mexicans don't jump off bandwagons as easily as pinoys do..remember Rey Bautista...I'd figure you'd forget who he is.....Pinoys and MX don't think alike so don't try to speak for Mexicans...

Guess who the biggest PPV customers are?? MX...And that's that there are anywhere between 5-15 people per house when a PPV involving a MX.

    Problems eh??

No one is saying he's going to be as big as Pac dip ****. :patsch

How many fighters have been busted before and still went on to make millions?

Isn't Pac retiring after this fight??? How can he continue milking a retired fighter? :nut

Don't you think it would be in Arum's best interest to hype the active fighter by having the torch passed to him by the retiring boxer? :think

Pac is retiring...Arum needs a new cash cow...Why can't you understand that?

    Cotto
    Martinez
    Williams
    Mayweather
    Pavlik

    MW division etc...
