I don't disagree with the fact that the most common convention of geographic nomenclature will group Yemeni's, Indians and Japanese into the same 'Asian' continent, but that as much to do with land mass than the inhabitants. The spark that triggered most of this is the fact that despite what one naming convention might suggest, they are sufficiently different genetically and culturally speaking that it makes more sense to split fairly inappropriate geographic labeling paintbrush down into smaller regions. In terms of identifying the predominant genetics of the inhabitants of a country, we are better off looking at something like the image below (just for example), rather than an arbitrary geographical delineation:

It's racist in Great Britain. (or Commonwealth nations)

Elsewhere nobody is even sure to get the undertone of intolerance and if they aren't particularly clued into British culture or relations with that geographical area or immigrants from it, most people from other non-Comm parts of the globe would just assume it was an innocent shorthand upon hearing it.

The N-bomb is a bit different. This isn't meant to sound arrogant (but might anyway), but American culture & media is pretty ubiquitous - more so than British. You'll be hard-pressed to find English-speaking people anywhere who don't know full well the meaning and historical implications of the N-bomb.

Well this is the British boxing forum mate. I don't think Garcia has ever called Khan a P*ki. I think Khan

I live in the US now. I do think there is the idea here that racism towards middle eastern/muslims is more acceptable than racism towards black people, or jews. You also have the situation in the US, same as the UK, where you pretty much anything done to a white person cannot be deemed as racist.

No mate, but I just have no time for Angel Garcia. The others you mentioned entertain me through their boxing even if I may not necessarily like them so it's not the same. I know some people are entertained by Garcia's rants, themselves (because let's face it, what the **** else does he do to entertain?) but I personally find that kind of thing ignorant and childish. I like trash talking. I'm a huge fan of James Toney, but bringing race into it is poor and it's not a one off with Angel either. Couldn't care less how fit his wife is tbh unless he wants to send her round mine.

Racism will always be a touchy issue.

Some people go into meltdown at the first opportunity, such as Rio Ferdinand, over anything that could potentially be construed as in any way racist.

    Others take a different view.

I don't see someone who uses the P word as automatically racist. It is a racist term, but it's often used lazily to describe an Asian person.... and I don't care enough about the issue to pull someone up on it - using the word I mean, likewise the N word.

Using the words lazily and abusing someone with it are two completely different things.

None of my friends are what I'd describe as openly racist - some use the P word occasionally, but not the N one.... and have the occasional rant about Eastern Europeans and their lack of manners, that's all.

I don't dislike racist people, or not purely for that reason anyway, people are entitled to hold their own views, and they should be allowed a free forum to express them. Nick Griffin should be allowed on Question Time as a democractically elected member of the European Parliament without some fascists ironically called ''Unite Against Fascism'' causing a riot everywhere he goes.

The man is an idiot, he's just an idiot in a different way and for different reasons to the likes of Nick Clegg, Ed Balls and Kenneth Clarke.

    He's talking about my sig

I would pretty much draw the line at racism...Racism isn't really just a stupid opinion, its insidious, divisive and hateful, its not in the least bit funny....Unlike Angels wig, thats hilarious

I remember working in a predominantly Asian area in GB and laughing at primary school age kids calling each other the P word, and its not uncommon amongst adults to refer to themselves as such.People like Garcia use it in a racist way,and I only wish Khan would knock his son out, though I can't see it.Regarding his brother, wasn't he competitive with young Selby as an amateur?Reckon this alone qualifies him as a prospect, and hell be a very good pro, with a few more than 10 or 12 fights.

Anabolic sorry just read your OP.Actually beat Selby?Good result,I reckon. Also, his brothers got his faults but he's a world class fighter,no doubt.I want Kell Brook to do well, but this kid Amirs fighting Saturday is as good as Carson Jones IMO,and not the best he's fought.

Haroon will be a decent little fighter, might not make it to world level but hel do well at domestic.Aparentely he holds a win over Lee Selby in the AMs,Hearn is tipping Lee to be a world champion so Haroon must have something about him.

Anyway we shall see,I would love he went on to become better than Amir in the lower divisions.
