Was it the mental health issues why they drifted apart then mate? I didn't even know they had a falling out tbh.

Just speculating bud but I have seen Peter talk in a IFL interview about it a couple of years back and it was quite clear that Peter didn’t quite get it and came across very old school. To bring out the best in your fighter you have to understand him imo and quite clearly Peter didn’t get it.

He was talking about how he was messing about in his hotel room and was relaxed before the Klitscko fight.

His brother is also called Hughie.

    Would be my guess too.

People from a previous generation think mental health issues and depression are all in someone's head and you can snap out of it.

Absolutely Ridiculous. Peter has moulded him from the start and created what Fury is today. Ben is a decent fitness trainer and still learning on the job when it comes to boxing. There was nothing new about Tyson on Saturday night.

    Whats the better achievement guys,

    1. Beating the 10 year undefeated, undisputed HW champion of the world away from home in a dominant performance.

    2. Getting a draw after being bounced and knocked out cold but getting up, against a bambi on ice limited boxer who has immense power away from home, whose only elite win remains against 45 year old Cuban.

    Difficult one that.

Now if Tyson Fury can beat AJ or beat some other top 10 guys with Ben as trainer then yes those achievements will beat those when Peter was trainer.

But the performance against Wilder could easily have been better, if he could have concentrated properely for the final 12 minutes of the fight instead of switching off and getting greedy.

Peter looks the better trainer to me. But different coaches have their strong areas. Tyson needed someone different and Ben was that something different. At 25 he won't have the experience needed to make him a great boxing trainer yet....but as he says he's quite a unique 25 year old.

Hes done a miraculous job with fury tho....luckily the job was more about getting him fit...and more importantly keeping fury's motivation. He done it perfectly. To me the kid can't really fail....he's shown he has the tools to do that.....in the meantime he's picking up invaluable experience working with Roach etc also looks wise beyond his years at 25. We,ve all criticized him....I think its time for the kid to take a bow now tho. That was fantastic on Saturday night. Both fury and Ben deserve massive plaudits for it. They kept that camp happy and tight the whole way through....got fury fit....as sharp as they could and let him go out their and put him back on the map as an elite level heavyweight.

Peter is a great trainer. You don't take fury to Germany and do that to klitchko if you don't know what your doing. Just different trainers suit different needs. Peter struggled to get the best out fury when fury hit rock bottom....but Ben would probably struggle equally with keeping a handle on camp with guys that are a proper handful like fury was in his twenty's. Peter was perfect for a time. But Ben was perfect cause fury actually turned up to camp motivated. Ben helped to keep that going. Great job by him for me. Doesn't really detract peters achievements with fury tho.
