The best thing about this thread is people saying Murray will break Mitchell and wear him down because that's what happened against Katsidis. Katsidis is a lot better then John is and hits a lot harder. So let's break this fight down. Mitchell vs Murray 1) Who has fought the better opposition - Mitchell. Murray hasn't been in the ring with anyone as good as Mitchell before, but Mitchell has been in with a fighter who is better (kats) 2) who has the edge in power - IMO Mitchell. He had very good power at SFW, and IMO he has carried it up (he moved Kats back in the second. Even tho he wasn't that hurt, he still moved him.) Kevin has a KO % of over 70, Murrays is down at 60. 3) who is the better boxer - Mitchell. He boxed beautifully against Prescott, boxed to orders. John has never had to show such discipline. He has used the same come forward with a high guard technique throughout his career and has, by in large, had it all his own way. Should this tactic not work against Mitchell, does he have enough about him to change it up? We just don't no, whereas we no Mitchell can change from slugger to boxer. Who has the better chin? Probably Murray. Carl hurt Kevin bad, and Kats stopped him (the same Kats who has JMM on his arse and badly hurt in the 3rd). Has Murray ever been seriously hurt? I can't remember a time he has if truth be told. Bit has he fought anyone with Kevin's power? I don't think he has. The only reason I give Murray a chance in this 1 is because we just don't no how much Kats took out of Mitchell. He has been out for a year with an eye injury, and we just don't no how bad he is still hurting from losing his 0. In every department (other than arguably who has the better chin) Mitchell comes out on top. Mitchell stops him around round 9. He boxes from the outside using his superior lateral movement for the first 6, hurting Murray as he comes in. He then steps up the pace in rounds 7-9, catching a frustrated Murray. Ref calls a holt to the action and Murray goes out on his feet.
Will Murray-Mitchell be an eliminator or something, or will it be for the Euro? I thought purse bids had been called for the Euro for Murray Rees so won't Murray have to vacate if he doesn't fight him?
Mitchell has now gone from overrated to underrated, i think he beats Murray by an 8-4ish decision, thats obviously depends on how he prepares for the fight, if he's focused thats the result i believe we will see.
I see your reasoning Gaz and that was mine when i first heard of this match but i think Warren is a businessman first and foremost. I lean a bit more to Robs line of thinking Warren in god times Khan Calzaghe Hatton could afford to have them both on the undercard in Euro level fights. Now he has to get title shots its survival of the fittest and that means within his own promotional stable too. He can't afford to carry anyone anymore because they won't make money for him
I tend to agree with that analysis :good Mitchell to me,seems to have more 'snap' in his punches,whereas Murray seems to force it a little Also I don't believe the Kats fight took too much out of him,its not as though he took a prolonged beating,he took a couple of big shots and the ref stepped in.The eye injury is a worry but he's gave it a while now and i'm sure he wouldn't get in the ring if it was a real problem
the spin for the loser is already set. If Murray loses its because he was struggling at the weight and moves up. Mitchell loses its because he's too small and moves down.

Mitchell struggled with Johanneson at SFW but won; he lost badly to Kats at LW. I see Murray somewhere in between CJ and Kats. The 11 month (?) inactivity, lack of a tuneup and question mark over his eye puts Murray as a strong favourite to me; although Mitchell would be far and away his biggest scalp. Also, I'm not sure but doesn't Mitchell sell more tickets than Murray at the moment - if Warren is really 'cashing in' on him then there must be something seriously wrong with him! I mean there were thousands at Upton Park; how long will it be before Murray rakes in the crowd that Mitchell got at West Ham? I while I'm guessing
