Yep. Dirrell won the fight. But for most of it, he was content to neutralize Froch. He was too passive and didn't hold his ground enough. He needed to make sure that twice per round he really made Froch pay for swinging and missing, but he didn't do that until the end of the fight. :hat
Dirrell hit Froch a whole hell of a lot more, and harder, than Froch hit him. That generally results in a victory. But not in Nottingham, evidently. Nottingham, the new Houston.
and thats why you can't ***** about a robbery. I agree that Dirrell won but we all know thats not a decision you are gonna get most of the time.
dirrell ran and clinched far too much...that was his downfall!! had he taken control and thrown shots instead of prancing about trying to do ballet then he would have easily outboxed froch! Froch had dirrell going i think in round 5 and 8 if i remember so all those saying dirrell landed the more meaingful shots take a closer look. He was clinging on for dear life at one point!
**** the super 6. Its now the mighty 4 to me. Abraham vs the winner of Kessler/Ward. If Dirrell should be the one advancing clearly. No doubts no questions. I dont give a **** if you dont like his running style or holding...but if he won he ****ing won.
I thought Direll sneaked it but I've very little problem with it bein givin the other way. People who are callin a blatant robbery are reactin a bit too much. It was a close fight where the home fighter who's also the champion got the benefit of the doubt. I'll have to watch the fight again....a bit more sober but I don't think it was a shockin hometownvdecision.
Though I had Dirrell winning clearly on my card, I'm not prepared to complain about the integrity of the tournament. This tournament is a blessing to boxing fans. We had two good scraps tonight and I look forward to every potential match-up to come.
Yeah, I think that you have to take the belt away from the champion. Dirrell was always reacting to Froch, sure he neutralized Froch's offence and didn't play into Froch's hands, but against the champion in his hometown, you just plain gotta stand and fight if you want tot take his belt away from him. Dirrell had the skills to hand out a boxing lesson, but he chose to give the appearance of being afraid to stand his ground against Froch. Dirrell won the fight, but he can't complain that he was robbed against the hometown champion after stinking out the place like he did for half the fight. Froch was ineffective, but he was initiating what little action there was. He would have been entitled to feel robbed himself if he had lost his belt by trying to chase an opponent who was determined to run and clinch for 10 rounds. :hat
