You mean little glass-jawed Haye, the blown up cruiserweight who doesn't even deserve his shot at WALDO? Whatever the outcome of this fight, there's no doubt whatsoever that the WALDO lovers will then try to make out Haye was the reincarnation of Tyson and Ali
Haven't seen that happen, personally. What always happens after a WALDO win is that the opponent suddenly becomes a monster in hindsight. When he loses the opponent becomes an all time great. Sanders for instance is now officially the most dangerous southpaw ever, on the strength of that one victory :nut
So Haye isnt seen as the 'saviour of the division' by brits? and ive seen it the exact opposite as you, whenever Wlad wins: dominates, or struggles, his opponent had no business being in the ring with Wlad according to his critics. i guess we could meet in the middle somewhere? Sultan was good, Thompson was worthy, Brock was good.. Austin and Rahman were ****
Vitaly is not number one because of his 'boxrec-cred'. He is number one because of what knowledgable boxing fans can see when seeing him fight and comparing that to the rest.
He dominated Peter after a long layoff (and many writing him off as too physically broken to return). JC Gomez was touted as a potential world beater.
On one individual fight I guess not really but on consistency of performance against those available to him , then you have to say yes. Peter was the best he faced so far (not counting his losses) but the way he dominated him , Williams and recently Gomez you would be being pretty f**kin harsh to try and deny him.
Dude, Vitali is a beast and a real throwback. People would be feeling better about the HW division if Vitali had been fighting this entire decade. He took Lewis to deep waters, essentially retired him in a lot of ways. He came back from a 4 year layoff and starched his first two opponents. If Haye manages to get past Wlad, watch Vitali step in and crush David Haye - would'nt surprise me one bit.
Wlad haters will bring up anything to discredit his wins. Blown up cruiserweight? Haye is naturally bigger that Joe Louis and Ali, most often mentioned as Nr. 1 and 2 on people's HW ATG lists. He would tower over Marciano, Patterson, Frazier and Tyson in terms of size. Joe Louis' competition consistet to 50% of fighters that would be small cruisers today.
I'm not going to go calling you any names, but what exactly does the credibility of the WBC have to do with how overwelmingly VK demolished Peter?
Well,he officially lost to both Byrd and Lewis, but I for one dont think that neither Byrd nor Lewis really won those fights. He was far ahead on points at the time he had to give up due to his injury, and we all know what h appened in the Lennox fight. Seldom has any fighter gone the full route with him,and his ko ratio is outstandingly impressive. He kicked Peter's ass quite badly after he had been out of the ring for ages. Yes,he has earned his crown.2-3 big fights more and he will be considered to be one of the greatest heavy weight champs of all times.
The one absolutely outstanding thing about Vitali is that NOBODY ever looked good against him. Not slick boxers like Larry Donald or Gomez, not rugged punchers like Williams or Peter, not fast fighters like Hide or Sanders. Even an ATG like Lennoc didn't look good in his win and preferred retirement over a rematch. Beating two completely different fighters in Peter and Gomez certainly means he does deserve his belt. Wlad has been consistent for years, so he is Nr. 1, followed by Vitali.
He was the last Heavyweight to hold The Ring Magazine Belt. Vitali Klitschko is the #1 Heavyweight in the World today and there is not a fighter in the World right now that could beat him.
More like Haye is the next Herbie Hide. Wlad fans don't think Haye is a reincarnation of Tyson or Ali. That is fodder. We think he's an over hyped big mouth who's going to get his chin checked early and end up looking at the lights. It won't be among Wlad's three greatest victories, but it will sure be satisfying as the anti Wald fans have their hopes dashed again.
