vazquez loss is similar to azumah against sanchez, glen johnson vs hopkins, benn vs watson. they totally redisigned there style.

winky's pre vazquez style was more of a bouncy cuty without using his physical strength and sharper solid jab and using his renowned pressure.

anyways the other 2 losses where debatable. his loss to vargas was a draw. hard to agree who was the clear winner.

jesus here we go again , the most overrated fighter in recent ****ing memory

Good defence and a good jab , honestly folk on here have such high standards except when it comes to ****ing Winky Wright.

His only good wins were a tiny shane and a beyond shot to **** Tito

Give Winky anything other than an american passport and you ****s wouldnt even know his name.

Its the truth. You guys are vastly overrating him.

Mosley had a terrible run up to his loss to Winky and Trinidad was past his best, although a great victory.

Thats pretty much his claim to fame right there, and beating Bronco McKart 50 times.

Bernard, should have been disqualified in their fight, and he beat Jermain.

He's one of the best 154-pounders in recent memory so why not? He beat 2 other future HOF'ers in Mosley & Tito and made them look bad. He's my 2nd favorite fighter that used the high-guard effectively throughout his career. My #1 is Starling and my #3 is Kotelnik.

good pick on starling:good other than that i think some of the criticisms towards winky getting overrated are valid and that happens to all fighters who go under the radar for a long time and are later "appeciated". mike mccallum's legend has over the years when he beats all of the fab 4 on one night (ironically, another 154 pound great). Fact is both body snatcher and winky were great fighters who were held back, in part, because of losses in critical fights not always a conspiracy.

winky was in the top 3 pound for pound for the better part of a year and top 10 for many years. his wins over a faded shane and not so faded tito (who above 154 was never that great) are the high points in a solid but unspectacular resume. it's his longevity and consistency past the vaquez/vargas debacles that earns him much praise

I wouldn't say Shane was faded when he fought Wright but instead he was past his prime. Vernon is the only man to beat a prime Shane on paper imo. In a matter of time like you said, Winky will get "appreciated". It toke Hagler much time to get his due too.

Shows just how much you know about Wright. He spent years fighting not in the US but in Europe and other places other than the US because the name fighters ducked him for years. The man more than earned the respect he's being given here and is a HOF boxer and an ATG at 154.:deal
