Rahman's not a *****, but it did look like he was looking for a way out, he got rocked in the 3rd round and knew it was only a matter of time before he was going get knocked out, he did the same thing in the Maskaev fight, he looked for the ref to save him when he was getting hurt by Maskaev late in the fight. Rahman's chin is terrible and he was on his way to getting laid out, Toney looked good tonite.
I don't claim to be a "know it all". Tell me, in your honest opinion, do you think that that cut was stoppage worthy? I have seen much worse. Ever seen Winky's eye after the Hopkins fight? Anyways they gave Toney a TKO, I thought the were ruling it a ND. That's why I was mad, and for good reason.
imo the doctor is the one who ****ed up. Even if the fighter is telling you he can't see, its your job as the doctor to examine the cut and decide if he can still fight. If the fighter tells the doctor he can't see and the doctor stops the fight based on that info alone, then its a NC. Those are the rules.
Toney didn't do anything for the first two rounds. It was only after he headbutted Rahman, he started to land the right hand. Fight should have been ruled a no contest. Cut was cuased by a headbutt, not a punch.
I'm one who always appreciates when someone can admit they jumped the gun. :thumbsup As for the cut, I don't know. Seen worse allowed to continue, seen cuts stopped for lesser reasons. I'm the first to admit being the person w/ the cut and being someone to look and say it's not that bad can be two entirely different things. One thing is for sure, Rahman is officially out of the running for any title shot.
yeah it wasnt bleeding at all. maybe after they cleaned it and treated it when he went back to the corner it was CLEARLY STREAMING in his eye
Never blame ring doctors. You clearly dont know how dangerous cuts can be. Doctors are only interested in the fighter, not the show nor crowd. If doctors cared about the show, we would have tons of blind fighters and fighters with heavy brain damage. Look at Ali.
Wrong. He was closing the distance and landing the right by the end of the second. Serious question. Using common sense to see that based on the location of the cut Rahman could obviously still see out of the eye, how is it incorrect for a TKO to be awarded by the referee? Rahman wasn't stopped by the clash of heads, he was stopped by his own refusal to keep fighting. He deserves a NC for refusing to answer the bell?
i blame the doctor because he didn't examine the cut properly before he made his decision, not because of the decision itself.
I admit, I got too wrapped up in what they were originally saying. But I honestly think they made the right decision. Rahman couldn't see, therefore he cannot continue. I am glad that Toney won, but at the same time I wish that the fight would have gone longer.
