Not now, I don't think. Wlad's pretty perfected now. He's not gonna punch himself out anymore. He's also not gonna take a puncher lightly and come straight in crackin' and get caught. Ali could't do anything to beat today's Wlad. He's not gonna make Wlad fall for a rope-a-dope, he's not gonna get inside. Wlad's too strong, too smart, too good, too big for Ali.
Wlad is no better, his excessive clinching (Peter fight), leaning on fighters backs (several different oppenents), posting with the left and also smacking down an oppenents guard just to make an opening for the right(Iggy, others as well). Wlad is just as dirty of a fighter and gets away with **** just as much as anyone else, so I dont want to hear about what Ali gets away with.
Like Lewis became a much better complete mature fighter after McCall, so has WLadimir after Sanders and Brewster. WK is a totally different animal now. Just like Leonard did after the loss to Duran.
but i think size gets overplayed in boxing......keep in mind the standards of today's heavyweights is not as brutal as ali's era....ali was pissing blood, and still beating ass.......guys like ali, marciano, even a chavalo or quarry would give the klitschko's a real run for there money.... marciano had a cut one time so bad tehy thought he was going to bleed to death, we saw what vitali looked like after he was cut against lewis......the klitschko's would think hell opened up and sucked them in....
Well, that's one way to see it, but of course, it could be BS too. I just think the competition got better.
Ali fights were only exciting when he was getting the **** beaten out of him and managed to win. Everyone considered the Sam Peter fight pretty exciting, except the haters, who just saw reason to again, point out that Wlad doesn't take a very good punch (nor does he need too, the joy of his style) These ****ers want Wlad to drop his hands and get beaten up, then they'll consider it a good fight. It's because boxing isn't an art or sport to them, it's just brutality. These rednecks should **** off and go watch MMA where it's legal to get ontop of a downed opponent and punch him in the head while holding his arms.
Its not illegal to smack an opponents jab down or lean on him in clinches. WK has never fouled anyone. Come on dude, to compare Terrell and Folley to Wladimir Klitschko is outrageous. maybe compare Terrell and Foley to Austin and Brock, maybe.
ali NEVER relied on power and strength, nor in-fighting. Where did this idea that he wouldn't get inside Wlad come from? He wouldn't WANT to get inside. The size difference is visible but no so great that Ali couldn't hit Wlad. He'd dance from a few rounds, find range and pitter pat Wlad until the mid rounds, throw some rights and begin working on a cut over the eye. The fact is I don't think Wlad could hit him. At all. Ali wouldn't knock him out but he'd move into range, blitz and move out. The klits are fast, but not THAT fast
it did but it was definitely a combination of both. 1967 ali would have destroyed his later competition
Well, if Wlad used all of his new tricks, taught by Steward, he'd even give Ali a harder time. Another thing, Ali wasn't a big puncher. Even if he did connect, it wouldn't be like taking a shot from Brewster or Sanders. I don't think he would get hit much, though. I'm sure Ali would be smart enough to not stand in front of Wlad and get hammered, but I don't see him getting off much offense. I see it as a dreadfully boring fight with Wlad winning every round.
It is illegal to lay on an oppenents back, thats why most refs warn Wlad after he does it. The other one I'm not sure about, but it is illegal to post with your left, Chris Bryd used to get alot of warnings regarding that.
I don't know. One thing I'm sure about: Foreman mkII would kill Ali. Man, what a dumbass Foreman was in that fight. All he had to do was just not punch himself out. That fight still amazes me.
What you mean? Wlad hits EVERYBODY with just about every one of his shots to the head scores. Maybe if Ali ran all night it would be hard to hit him but WK has the footwork to catch ALi and hunt him down. Ali does not have enough firepower to threaten WK, I agree with Brendan, it's a mismatch. And Ali never had to deal with a great jab. ALi's jab was dominant but the way to beat a jabber is to outjab him. Klitschko would not lose a jabbing duel with Ali, not with his size and power advantages.
