Margarito because he cheated, he put plaster of Paris in his hand wraps and messed Cotto's face up and McClellan because he threw Labradors in his cellar tied up for his Pitbull to rip to pieces, he also needlessly ran over flamingos in Florida then when other flamingos inspected, he ran them over too and killed them

I think despising a fighter solely just because they are from a different country one dislikes is wrong. In the 80s there were a lot of people who disliked Gerrie Coetzee because he was from South Africa during the apartheid era. The same was true of Max Schmeling being from Germany during the Nazi regime. Politics should be kept out of sports ( even though they aren’t )

A good part of politics and sports are tied. But sometimes we look past that when we gave some one like Nadia Comaneci safe heaven in America when she fled Romanian. Even Max Schmeling was rescuing Jews from Germany though us Americans view him as a evil Nazi. Far from the truth, but Max is/was a hero.

I guess those are good reasons. They are not boxing relayed anyway.

The Margarito one is because he used something which affected his punching power in the fight and the effects of them, it gave him more power to deter Cotto and ultimately smash him up and win the fight, I firmly believe that without cheating, Cotto would've won, which he did in the rematch anyway, but even at the time of the first fight I believe Cotto would've won if Margarito didn't cheat
Regardless, the McClellan one was much worse, but if you're talking boxing related then that couldn't be in the list, so it would have to be Margarito and Luis Resto at top spot for me

I wonder whether there's a boxing fan out there who absolutely loathes Floyd Patterson. That would probably be close to the apex of irrational dislikes of fighters you've never met. (Unless there's some dark secret about Patterson I'm missing.) But knowing how these things work, there's probably one Patterson hater somewhere...

I like Patterson, but I could understand if someone disliked Patterson cuz of his first title reign. Like Terrell said, "he never gave anybody a chance".

Yeah, I guess that does at least have the merit that the hypothetical boxing fan who disliked Patterson would dislike him for ruining that person's chance to watch a fair and entertaining fight. In other words, it's one of the few ways that Patterson could personally inconvenience a member of the public in a way deserving of even the most mild dislike in return.

All of this said, I've also always found the people who gloat over McClellan's brain damage as some kind of payback/karma for hurting dogs to be pretty ghoulish. They're a minority, but one runs across them occasionally online.

I didn't say I felt sympathy, necessarily; nor that people ought to. Don't know the guy; don't like him. Sounded like an unpleasant person. I just think it's a little overboard for people who also never knew him to take satisfaction in his current situation.

But eh. That's just my personal reaction. Guy seemed like pathetic near-vegetable years ago when I saw videos of him. They weren't fun to watch.

I mean, if he killed your dogs or flamingos, that's obviously different.
