It definitely isn't cheating. Every boxer does it. However, boxing might be better if the weigh-in were in the ring before the fight. Too many fighters are ranked because of their ability to lose and gain weight, not because they are necessarily the best boxers. Margo, of who I am a fan even after this episode, is an example. He is a steamroller versus his opponents who are only SUVs.
all that means is it's gonna be that much harder to pick him up off this canvas and onto the stretcher...
Bad move for hatton. Gaining 10% of your body weight 1 day before the fight will have a bad effect on his body according to nutritionists. You can gain at most 7% of you body weight and 10% is way off the limit.
Just shows that he can't beat pac without the size advantage..He's right and should take advantage of that..It's part of the game...nothing illegal there..
I just hope no excuses of Hatton coming Overweight and has to drain himself for the weight in. wait more likely, I wish he could even make the weight.
Hatton's already set his course. Fighting guys who can't punch (Malignaggi) and guys who are naturally smaller than him (Pac). That's because anything over 140 is a potential loss for him. Easy career decision that, at the very least, ensures longevity. If he does beat Pacman and Mosley comes calling don't count on them fighting. Hatton's celing is 140 and no higher as Luis Collazo pointed out.
I don't think it would be that much of a difference. I think Pacman has put the weight on nicely. I think Hatton's style of fighting does utilize the strength well if he is having his way, but Pacman will neutralize Hatton's style so the strength will not be a factor. If Pacman sat there and traded with him then Hatton might be a little stronger, but not much even then.
Hatton will probably be around 153, Pac around 146-48. Thats not going to be the deciding factor though is it.
