So much for the dart-playing gentleman stereotype. The sad thing is most of the fans in Britain will buy it and believe that he truly won the fight.
Ha WAS winning the fight, remember? He was up on points. Watch the fight again with a NEUTRAL eye. I doubt that most people here can. Sure, Floyd made a good KO, but how would the fight have turned out with a neutral, unbiased ref? It makes you wonder. It definitely would have changed one thing -- the fight would have been a hell of a lot better without Cortez.
Dynamite comeback... not true? See, it is easy for me to tell the truth. Because I didn't come into this fight really favoring Hatton or Mayweather. I like them both, although Floyd's attitude had me leaning towards Hatton. As an American I was completely disgusted with Hatton's fans booing our National Anthem, so that evened everything right back up for me. I can look at this fight with a level head, and absolutely no bias. Everyting that I said is true, and if you don't think it is, then either you are lying to yourself, have a huge bias in this matter, or simply don't know how a ref is supposed to act.
Floyd pretty much said that if he wanted to clinch he could eat an elbow or two. You cant cheat a cheater. Hatton got what he deserved for every fighter he's bullied and held on the inside illegally. Which would be about 90% of the fights he's fought. Cortez had a tough task, he was getting flak leading up to the fight knowing Hattons style/ Hatton got beat fair and square, he got punked out by a better fighter. Let it go.
Widdow you make a solid post but the fact is that Floyd didn't need Cortez' help because Hatton was overmatched and in the end if anything Cortez' performance worked in Floyd's disadvantage because it gave the naysayers some ammunition. Floyd was gonna dominate the championship rounds regardless of the refereeing, the judges had Hatton winning 1 or 2 rounds at the half point, he had little to no chance. I was also dumbfounded and annoyed with the refereeing even though I placed some money on PBF. Cortez was pure garbage
I do agree that Ricky shouldn't have been deducted a point. However, it's his fault for losing his cool. You think Floyd would have lost his cool if he lost a point for an elbow? Exactly...... Secondly.... Hatton was getting caught with clean shots the whole evening. He was also getting out worked to the body the whole evening; Yea, Mr left-hook to the body. (Floyd was stabbing him to the stomach all night long) What does Hatton have to say about the punishment he took in the 8th? That wasn't a cut that caused that. Neither was the left hook he ate in the 10th. Neither was the 3 punch combination he took in the 4th that backed him off. How many straight right hands and left hooks did you see snap Hatton's head back from rounds 1-10? How many shots snapped Floyd's head back? There you go...... Sorry, Cortez was poor I'll agree, but Floyd whipped Hatton's ass. Every significant punch of the fight was landed by Floyd.
Who was winning the fight? Hatton? If you look with an unbiased eye and consider what is important and that is effective punching he won 2 rounds at the most.
hbo is biased against floyd all the time...someone said ducking below the waist PBF always does that..nobody complained before..and whitaker used to get lower than that....you guys act like hatton doesnt clinch when he fights...in his last 5 fights he has been doing that..and he came into the fight trying to clinch hatton doesnt FIGHT ON THE INSIDE he holds and pushes...both are illegal..and the fight wasnt fixed.. even if hatton was allowed to wrestle he was getting beat on the inside anyway...the fight wasnt close hatton couldnt even hardly land **** when they were inside he was beat to the punch all night..:hi:
Whatever man, I'm happy Floyed KOed Hatton or there would be no end to all the bitching and moaning from Ricky's boytoys. Ref was too involved at the beginning, that's true but then he pretty much let them fight. If you scored the fight for hatton you may be blind. What cards are you on about?
how things have changed huh? now it's hatton's time to complain about pbf fighting dirty. he should have just said he lost to a better fighter and we'll all be happy with it. making excuses only makes fans feel that he deserved to get beaten up. hatton should remember that he was ko'd by legitimate punches. elbows are not an excuse because they didn't knock him out. the cut he was talking about should not be an excuse because it wasn't that nasty and he wasn't stop on cuts. his chin was checked and that's why he lost. he should deal with it
Because of the point deduction, constant interferance from Cortez, AND FLoyd's dirty tactics, Hatton totally lost focus by round 10. No wonder Floyd was up on points. Hatton scared him shitless in the earlier rounds. That's a fact. After the fight finished, I have never seen Floyd looking so relieved.
Nonsense. So you are virtually saying Hatton would have won if he handnt swung at Mayweather when his back was turned. Please get a brain. Mayweather starts off slow in all his fights, its him sizing up his opponents, watch the Zab Judah fight. Zab won the first 4 rounds then fLoyd goes on to dominate, just like he did against Hatton. Hatton cant complain, he likes to clinch, likes to rabbit punch then his ass can eat an elbow. YOU CANT GRAB FOR THE SAKE OF GRABING, YOU CANT HIT ON THE BREAK. What dont you understand about that? How do you ref Hatton when thats all he planned to do in the fight? Are you actually saying he was gonna box Mayweather LOL! Get out of here. Hatton got a taste of his own illegal cheating medicine, and he's pissed about. Nothing he did was gonna stop him from tiring down the stretch, YOU CANT APPLY CONSTANT PRESSURE AGAINST A FIGHTER LIKE MAYWEATHER AND EXPECT NOT TO BE WINDED. AS soon as he lost a step, Mayweather capitalized. Watch rounds 8-10. Completely domination. I tell you what Hatton fans dont get is that Cortez, could have stoppped the fight in the 8th when Hatton was getting pummeled against the ropes and didnt throw back, if Cortez was fixing the fight he would have stopped it then, and nobody would have complained, but he let the fight go on, so we could all see that beautiful knockout in teh 10th.
hatton was known as a dirty fighter. pbf was not. the ref had that in mind and wo was more keen on looking at what hatton does wrong rather than what pbf does wrong. hatton should blame himself because he let himself become known as a dirty fighter. if a man was known to be a criminal his whole life then gets into a fight with another man who has no previous record, who would you think the police will blame?
