am i the only one who doesn't think it's an excuse? he admitted after the fight that he was beaten by the better man, he's said it a couple of times now. if only floyd and ricky's fans could be as gracious after the fight as the two boys in the ring.

    What are you talking about?

Ricky won the second and the fifth - that's it...Mayweather won the 6th too...point taken off Ricky made it 10-8...

If the ref hadn't steppd in, Ricky would have made it Tszyu mark 2 at times...there was no way he would or should have been allowed to get away with that...but in any case, Floyd was ready for that and he would have outdirtied Ricky in the clinches and grapples...and damaged his face even more.

...as it turned out, Ricky gave it some, and Floyd gave back as good as he got back in terms of the dark stuff, but not cosiderably more, I would say, just different - elbowing Ricky's face, rubbing his glove against Ricky's face and then against his cut, some low-ish blows...

...yeah, I felt the ref was tough on Ricky but that's because he wanted to avoid Tszyu 2...we saw more of a boxing match because of that, I would say...on the whole, the ref helped Floyd more, but since he was the boxer in there, it makes sense in a way - he just wanted to keep it as far as possible a boxing match...

...even if the ref had allowed Ricky to do whatever he had wanted, Floyd would have stopped him on a cut or by a 9-3 margin, using those elbows even more on the inside...there was no way Ricky could have won this, honestly...not the way Floyd had it all 100% worked out for every possible thing Ricky could come up with and get away with...

...Ricky admits freely that he does whatever he can to get the upper-hand in a fight...well, it worked against Tszyu but not against Mayweather...tough luck, mate! I am a bit disappointed Ricky pushes the boat out on the ref...he does use it as an excuse whilst admitting that he lost to the better man...what is that all about? Ricky, admit it, mate, he would have stopped/beaten you even without a ref in he ring...

...as Ricky admits, he lost it so badly because he lost his cool - but we all saw that coming, especially at the weigh-in...where the contrast with the professional and calm Mayweather was very marked...

Ricky was giving credit to Floyd AND making excuses and was actually complaining. moving on... btw, i dont see a need for a rematch here.

He did...and he was right...but these statements in this article suggest that if the ref had let him get away with his style, or, at least, if he had been fair, Ricky might have won this fight - this is clearly bollocks and Ricky knows it...Floyd was just too intelligent in there for him...as he freely admits...so what is the point of dshing it out about the ref? It just doesn't add up...and makes Ricky sound like he is deperate to make an excuse whilst seeming not to make an excuse...

its funny how people only read the bit on bold and NOT the bit right above ot where rick says he would do the same and he is not blaming floyd at all.

I actually never thought Hatton would make excuses.

Makes Tszyu's post-fight speech even more outstanding if you ask me.

That was a man who had every right to make excuses ... and didn't make a single one.

Losing respect for Hatton, I really thought he'd be a man about it and just say the best guy won.

True, but the point is he is blaming the ref for Floyd getting away with murder, implying that if the fight had been fair, he would have had a very good chance of winning it...(which is untrue, and he knows it)
