Im quoting this for the excellent analysis. Fantastic post mate. Genuinely I think the biggest factor in the match wont be the weight but the fact that Hatton really struggles against southies. Its much underrared to this point in all the analyses I've read. I genuinely think that will be the difference. I want Ricky to win, but I thibk the modern, more technical pac has too much to keep him off. Although Ricky is working more on his technical stuff, he's still behind and that + southpaw + abreviated camp will be the difference. I dont think Pac can bang him out, but something around a 4 round UD is my prediction.
well i wasn't aware that you were all floyd fans, floyd has a lot of fans. the fact that you three were arguing with me doesn't mean i have anything against floyd fans in general just stupid ones, and if the cap fits.....
That fight wasn't close. PBF was toying with Hatton from the 5th round on. He was baiting him trying to get Hatton to open up. He knew Hatton would get reckless and he made him pay for it. Also the way he baited Hatton into that "check hook" was a thing of beauty. A true masterclass performance by PBF to be able to adjust to hatton's style and beating him at his own game.
atsch PBF is better at 140 than he is at 147. At the lower weights he's faster lets his hands go more an has even better movement. He would beat Ricky worse at 140 than he did at 147 because it's closer to his best weight.:deal BTW blame Ricky for the fight not happening at 140 he turned PBF down at that weight back in 2005.:deal PBF is a stylistic nightmare for Hatton and I tried telling people that for years. Ricky has no answer for PBF's speed or his ability to adjust to all styles period. PBF is simply superior.
He was fustrated because PBF was mixing up his attack to the head and body he had Hatton wound up so tight he didn't know if he was coming or going. Look at round 8 for reference.
i thinkRicky that night was goin to get KO'ed or TKO'ed regardless of the all the other nonsense being tossed around. If you look at the fight even the earlier rounds Floyd was already baiting and hittin Hatton regarly with that left hook....Ricky was already lunging for shots early in the fight so he did not lose his head he simply understood that nothing he tried was effective to the point where he could take over which led him to be lost of some sort in trying to get at mayweather coupled with maybe slight mental and physical fatigue. Even in the first round there was a clip in the thread where Floyd was stumbling but if you pay attention he stumbled because he was trying to hit Ricky with that check hook. Plus in the first round floyd hit him with a lot of very good flush shots even in the first.......the fight appeared close simply because Hatton was smothering a lot of the action with his pressure and was backing Floyd up constantly with his pressure Mauel even said it was inaffective pressure because Ricky was not getting good work done once inside now some may say cus the Ref broke it up prematurley some may point to the mayweather tactics which yes are probally illegal BUT was brilliant in countering Hattons illegal style as well.......in that regards i think BOTH fighters were doing what they felt they had to to win the fight and there is much more of that illegal stuff in many fights as well so i think both fighters just were in a aggressive physical fight but one fighter just has to many ways to win while one is not as dimensional.....reason why Ricky just is over his head at any weightclass with Floyd.
I think it woulda ended early if Floyd put combos tgether nice and early. We all know Floyd when he is feelin it, can blitz combos. He just didn't get his rhythm early. I doubt Hatton woulda lasted 7 rounds with rapid fire version of Floyd. It was just Floyd took his time in that fight.
This thread still trucking along? People still think Hatton has a prayer in hell of ever beating Floyd?
Watched the ending again as I was running. Love seeing the Brits who are sitting in the cheap seats (THE SECTION NOT THE COST) go from full blown chant of support to dead silence as Ricky lay on the floor.
