You say that but it seriously wouldn't surprise me if Scholes bought the club one day.

    I agree on Ferguson

I was within reason a regular at OT in his VERY early years, cos my mates are reds so I'd go with them... that was fun ! Memberships being thrown in the river left right and centre

But then I hated him in his early, successful United years, the cheque book managing, cheating, watch watching, biased, ref-baiting, Keegan winding up filthy red pig

But he's earned his dues for sure, you can't dispute the man is made of stern stuff and for all the bollocks talked about football, he knows where it's at and what it's about. His longevity is incredible.

I like football debates on boxing boards. I've been heavily into my football for a long time now, so I like to think I know a bit. I reckon you can tell from posters football opinions who is worth listening to on the boxing front.

Doesn't bode well for old TFFP

Something that has always baffled me

Scholes has often been referred to as 'the Ginger United fan from Salford' etc etc

However, it seems he's actually from Oldham

Was it a PR job to claim he was from Salford? Or is there more to the story?

Whereas Giggs IS a Salford lad

I've never heard a single credible argument out of you anyway, when under fire you cowardly load up another browser and straight to the favourite page of a boxrec warrior

I've been KO'd quite a few times by good posters on this site, but from the little I've seen you aren't one I give much credence to.

    :hi:

Im the opposite. People who want to talk football in this forum? What the **** are they doing here? Thats my take on it.

If you want to talk football, go to the lounge or one of those football sites.
If you want to talk football here, your heart inst really in boxing. Thats how I judge people.
& how can you blame me?

You cant, of course you cant.

Boxers earn their money the hard way, footballers are egotistical pussies in comparison.

Put it this way people. How many footballers have you met that you walked away with pride after meeting them, proud as a boxing fan is after meeting one of his favouriter fighters?

Over to you. The day I hear of a current footballer being as approachable as a boxer past, present or future is the day I will admit that Nicky Cook doesnt hve a problem with Scotland!

Obviously I talk alot of football in the lounge with Fists, MDWC, Holmes Jab etc but I have no idea why recently it's became fashionable to start discussing football in the British!

Take it to the lounge guys, join us there!

This thread has been somewhat overwhelmed by the talk of football...I was actually interested in this particular Hatton thread...I mean really what is the point of Hatton going it alone now?

Exactly Beast my good man. I love a bit of Hatton baiting from time to time, but then I entered this thread & its all talk about footballers & the big EPL4?
I like my football just like every other fan. & I have strong opinions on the sport. & although everyone backed me, probably I was a bit harsh as some of the posters here who brought up & discussed the subject of the round ball game are fine contributors to this very forum.
Its fear that makes me angry though, I hate the thought of a good boxing forum like this being overtaken by the monster that is football! I mean, put any Old Firm fans together & they can make a hundred thread post just by arguing.
Multiply it tenfold when peope start discussing the english premiership here, cos its big all over the world.
Before you know it, this could become a boxing/football forum... & to a hardcore boxing fan like me, thats awful.
The lounge is king for boxing fans who like their football also to let off some steam, end of rant:good

You could have blamed Hatton and his close associations with Man City (playing on forumers subconscious) for the forum football disruption; slipping Dunky.

So is Hatton getting a new trainer or what, why, and who is it?

hmm. An intersting thought! The subconscious plays a massive part on ESB I believe, so you just might have a point, Jon.

But to get back to the proper subject matter, I believe that Ricky is in denial. His fans have made such a fuss about his loss, blaming everything from the ref to Hattons trainer that I believe its got to him, & by ditching Graham I feel Hatton is looking for excuses in his own head.
However, I think a change wouldnt do Hatton any harm, as Grahams big belly bag is oe of the worst training devices I have ever seen. That thing only teaches bad habits.
Unless you are fighting Rik Waller, the big belly bag should be locked away in the gym with the smelly old sparring gloves.

Who would be able to make the headstrong Ricky Hatton a different beast from the one that Graham trained for years though at this stage of his career?
I dont have a definitive answer to be honest, & look forward to seeing some more discussion on this subject before I make my mind up.

    P.S
Even though I am no Hatton fan, something saddens me about seeing Hatton split from Graham. In a nostalgic sort of way.

Don't know about all that. He's an Oldham boy through & through. On one of the rare occasions the press managed to pin him down for an interview, 02 World Cup I believe, he named some obscure Oldham players from the 70's as his heroes. Paul Scholes is as real as they come, won't see many more like him.

God knows who his next trainer would be.....

Nobody in the UK is good enough to improve him, so who are the leading candidates from the US.....

Manny Steward - Great trainer, but stylistically totally wrong for Hatton.

Freddie Roach - Probably the best man for the job, but already trains Pacquiao, a likely Hatton opponent down the line.

Buddy McGirt - Not a brilliant trainer, works with ***gi anyway.

Mayweathers - All top class operators, but none are really suited to the kind of fighter that Hatton is.

No doubt all will be revealed. I think Hatton would be well served sticking with Graham - not just for sentimental reasons. He actually gives a ****, whereas others would just see him as a payday.
