Hatton wishes he had made pacman agree to testing

I, like yourself, always try and defend Hatton if he's getting knocked for no reason but after referring to himself as a powerhouse, he deserves the stick.

And all the "I've lost respect", "can't admit he lost fairly", "deluded" (from the man who guides Olusuguns career!!!) histronics?

He should have known better than to even hint at it without proof but that answer is just "Yeah, maybe" to a direct question. In light of whats happened since it must be at least a "what if?" thought in the back of his head....

The words from those interviews (not just Hatton) get picked apart like they are on stone tablets from God when they are usually interviews in a bar after a small hall show in Rochdale.

The thread title doesn't exactly represent the interview fairly either, I didn't see much "wishing" going on from Hatton there....

 

It just gives people another stick to beat him with. Hatton is a dickhead for his behaviour outside the ring, but he wanted the fight with PAC, whereas floyd dodged it. I know who respect more

That Cotto in the Pacquiao fight looked like a shrunken version, like the De La Hoya version.

 

This is one of the many reasons I'm a former-fan.

 

Unbelievable what Hatton has turned into. Since the Tszyu fight when practically everyone in the country was rooting for him, his ego has gradually got worse and worse to the point where he disappeared up his own arse. Sad.

 

If you are that sensitive to boxers making soft off the cuff remarks Laz then supporting Khan must be an exercise in frustration!!

 

It's strange how the same people who leap to assumptions on the merest shred of (non)evidence and hearsay, slag Hatton for a reasoned response to a journalists enquiry. A good journalist will word questions to get as good copy from the reply as possible, i.e. try to get something from the response, goad his ego. In the write up they will omit the questions posed so you do not get the full picture of the conversation. Hatton is a proud man who would take a loss personally, does not mean he is a **** or a fraud as people call him on here.

Interesting that Hatton mentioned there was some sort of special drug testing arrangement for the Mayweather fight. Most assume this drug testing standpoint was a new device solely for ducking Pacquiao. Perhaps not?

Why not?? Apparently Terrible sparring, trainer turned up late on the night of the fight, it was a farce. His punch resistance had also went.

Even hatton himself had excuses.

Hatton says “I was down on weight very early, I was sparring a lot earlier than normal and consequently I peaked too soon. Where I should have taken my foot off the gas and had a bit of a rest, my trainer put my foot on the gas and in the end it burned me.”

 

I think these comments are being blown out of proportion......but I've never had huge respect for Hatton. He was good but fell short of greatness due to his lack of discipline and commitment. His comments following losses to Floyd and Manny strike me as bitter but in both cases he was fairly beaten by the better man.

 

Nah, it's not this. If this was a primary reason for not liking a fighter, I'd be a ******.

I disliked the way he'd puff up before fights and the way he's left us hanging after his defeats, like after the Pacquiao fight where I had my hopes up on seeing him fight one more time only to realise. There was nothing about him in the press and he wasn't realeasing any statements and was keeping us fans in the blue for so long. Then the only time he got into the news, it was for the Coke ****, so for a fan, I was pretty gutted, as were most.

I still like him. I never hate a Boxer, but am just not a fan.

With Khan it's just hell

 

TBH you reach a "critical mass" in boxing and stuff like that gets levelled at you on forums. Haye was the darling around here a couple of years ago and now he's (apparently!) delusional and up his own arse. "Grimly predictable" rather than "unbeleveable"

Your recollection of Hattons popularity at the time of the Zoo fight is a little inaccurate. Plenty were hoping he's get "brutally KO'd"!!! You really think anybody outside the boxing crowd bothers reading interviews like the one in the OP and managing to somehow take offence at them?

With the vast majority of people the cocaine "scandal" probably has had more effect than 10000 interviews like that on boxing forums.
