Haye has signed on unbelievable terms

David Haye got his wish yesterday when he finally signed for a summer world heavyweight title bout against Wladimir Klitschko. After months of wrangling, Haye, the former WBC, WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion, put pen to paper at 4am for a bout on June 20.
Even though he has been forced to concede ground on every point to make the deal, Haye believes that he is about to see all his dreams come true. I've been telling people since I could talk that I'd be heavyweight champion of the world, now I've got my chance, Haye said. I know Wladimir's style and I know what his assets are. I know how to beat him.
However, his chance came at a cost as Klitschko, who holds the WBO, IBF and IBO titles, and his team turned the screw in negotiations. Not only must the Briton concede home advantage, he will have the short end of the purse. Indeed, it is understood that the only money Haye will receive will be part of the cash paid by Setanta Sports, which will screen the bout live in the United Kingdom. Klitschko's company, K2, will promote the bout and get the entire proceeds of lucrative German and American television deals, as well as the ticket receipts and television rights for the rest of the world.
The concessions did not stop there. If Haye wins, he has promised Klitschko, 33, an immediate rematch and, should he win that, he would be forced to face the Ukrainian's older brother, Vitali, the WBC champion. Such is the difficulty of negotiating when one family has a near monopoly of the heavyweight titles.

I'll have to fight the Klitschkos three times, Haye said. Only then am I free to do what I want. I've made a career of taking the difficult route and here we go again. I'm saying I want to be the heavyweight champion of the world and to do that I've got to beat Wladimir, and I've made the fight as quickly as possible.
Berlin has long been the frontrunner as the venue, although it is far from certain. It takes place wherever they want it to be, Haye said. They said it is 90 per cent likely it will be
in Germany. Munich, Mannheim, Cologne and Hamburg could be alternatives, while there have even been rumours that it could go to Belgrade or Kiev, although the desperate economic situation in Ukraine would seem to rule out the latter, a city where Vitali has twice run for mayor.
Haye, 28, won his world cruiserweight title on foreign soil, beating Jean-Marc Mormeck in Paris on a show staged by Don King, Mormeck's promoter. You're going to see exactly why I've accepted the fight under the terms - because I know I can beat him, the same way I knew I could beat Mormeck, and I didn't do that for much money, Haye said. I did it because I knew I was going to win and that the fight would then propel me on to bigger fights and get me to the stage where I am today.
Evander Holyfield is the best-known cruiserweight champion to have moved up to win the world heavyweight title, but even he did not do it on the fast track that Haye has put himself on.
The Briton has had little more than 15 minutes' action in two bouts as a heavyweight and has not boxed since stopping Monte Barrett in five rounds in November. Against Klitschko, he will be giving away an advantage of 5in and about 2st.
I wouldn't be surprised if they think this is an easy fight for them, but little do they know what I'm all about, Haye said. I'm fighting a guy who is that much bigger, heavier and has a longer reach than me. I'm going to have to make up the distance, I'm going to have to throw punches in bunches, I'm going to have to do things that I haven't had to do before because I've been bigger and stronger than the guys I've been fighting.
This time around it isn't the case, but my whole career has been aiming for this one night.

Whoa.

He's going to get paid peanuts, has to beat Wlad twice and then would have to beat Vitali as well.

Haye is a mad *******, I'd go as far to say there's nobody else like him in boxing.

Yeah, heard about this over on the GF. Haye off his rocker tbh. Being paid nothing and having to fight Wlad twice and Vitali should he win is nuts. He's got some balls on him.

IF this is true then you have to give Haye massive credit for taking the deal. It shows he realy does beleive that he can beat them and he wasn't just talking bollocks - which a lot of people on here said. The Klits should be booed by the whole of boxing for taking such a stance, I dont care if they hold all the belts, it proves the are trying to create a monopoly which is bad for boxing.

Well Haye gets the money from Setanta and that's it. Wlad gets German and American TV money and all the gate. Plus he chooses the venue.

Should Haye win he has to give Wlad and immediate rematch and if he wins that he has to fight Vitali straight after that.

It all depends on whether the terms for the second Wlad and Vit fights are still to be negotiated. If they are, he's just had to take a challengers purse for the first fight so he can make "proper" money for the second 2 fights.

I'd imagine this is the case. I doubt Haye would have accepted otherwise.

I think he's confident he'll win this and cash in later.

Haye is far, far better than people outside of the UK realise. He will land vs WK first, and as long as he protects his chin, i think he's far too quick for the older Klitschko

Then the fact he has to give Wlad a rematch and then fight Vitali is kind of irrelevant as those two fights would be by far the biggest fights open to Haye at that point in any case.

I always said it was the Klit ****s doing this. Hayes never shown himself to be a *****. The man is one of the only real warriors left, even Pac doesn't do it like this.
