Nothing would help. When your achilles is ruptured it's not the pain that is bothering you as much, you simply can't move the foot properly anymore no matter how tough you are. You can't extend your achilles anymore, the only thing you can do is stand on your heel completely flat footed and limp. The only thing that helps is operation and/or long recovery.
Haye had long been injury prone. The leg injury seems legit. He also seemed to hurt his shoulder at one point. To his credit he didn't cry about it afterwards.
You need to ice it, and then treat it so it doesn't get stiff. Some muscle rub or someting would help. I doubt Haye would get surgery, and I bet when he went to Germany he got some type of treatment to lower the inflammation or something. It really sucks for Haye because his right foot (area - toe / achilles) has literally been his . . well achilles heel lol. If not for his right foot (area) problems he really did have the tools to beat Wlad 5 years ago. He's a huge puncher, and does have skill, but when you can't plant your right foot you can't do much in there. If the achilles didn't go mid-way through the fight, chances are he would have won and possibly stopped Bellew.
His shoulder is injured, but you're not putting weight on it like the foot / leg, so I don't think the shoulder would prevent him from winning a fight like the leg has. He didn't cry about it, he didn't even acknowledge it LOL. You know it was killing him inside (not the pain) to have to go through with that interview and the fact that Bellew won pretty much because his leg gave out again.
My question is . . .do Brits still think that Haye is the greatest of all time?. . . .I have never seen the degree of butt kissers for one person except Trumpeteers in the U.S.
I'm a Brit and never thought that. I have always thought that Haye had more potential that he ever realized and he failed to make the most out of his career.
You know what though, ask yourself this, if Haye didn't injure his toe, don't you think he could won a decision on Wlad with the quality more sensational punching? I mean there's no doubt that Haye at his best could potentially dominate Heavyweights. Maybe not AJ, but most heavyweights are much slower and don't have the kind of hand speed and overall boxing skill as Haye. So I don't think the Brits are crazy to think he's the greatest of all time, but I do think Haye could be an ATG if not for these injuries that have really derailed his career.
Haye has all the potential in the world, even now but these injures are just killing his boxing career. What I don't understand with Haye was if he knew he had a sore achilles, why test it so hard. Haye could have very easily fought a more flat footed controlled fight and still won this fight. But he just goes for the most sensational punches which are exciting to watch but that put a lot of pressure on his sore achilles. He's got to know his own limits more.
Credit to Haye after the injury he was pretty much nothing more than a punching bag. He took a beating and didn't quit. Even with the knock down through the ropes he almost beat the count. Not that it would have mattered anyway as he had nothing left and would have been blasted out soon after. He showed a good heart and chin but his career is done now.
I ruptured my June last year, still not 100% and have to do physio (mainly about building up the calf atm). They actually pop and you hear them go. I was jogging and it snapped and I fell, thought someone had ran into the back of me.. Pretty painful but the issue is you main tendon is in two pieces so you can't use your foot other than though other smaller tendons. The only way I could keep going was to keep the injured foot in front of me it physically wouldn't go behind my body.. To cut a long story short if he ruptured his Achilles he wouldn't have been able to put any weight on it or keep it behind his body, even flat footed...
Kinda remind me of Martinez/Cotto. Over-the-hill fighter with leg injury against younger, smaller, more active guy and gets knocked out.
