Haye seemed too cheerful at the end for me. Hiding his devastation or has he pulled another fast one?
When asked what kind of handicap would make this fight even-money, you stated : Now, you're saying Haye having "one leg" totally invalidates Bellew's win ?? Butt-hurt much ?
I wanted Bellew to win but was rooting for Haye after his injury and actually felt sorry for him. I think there has to be a rematch (if Haye's body allows). Ridiculous how little Haye's injury was mentioned on Sky and those interviewed on IFL!
Not mentioning the injury because Bellew deserves credit for his win, and Haye wants to fight again and could not market himself for another big fight if people thought he was going to break down again mid fight like that. Everyone could see the injury.
Is it me or after the fight and the post fight reviews most media outlets including the post fight interviewer avoid the elephant in the room.Haye was injured. Did not ask him one question about it and Haye was clearly not going to use it as an excuse after the toe thing, however it swung the fight no doubt. Sky this morning saying "Bellew records SWEET victory over bitter rival" ha..that's like winning and arm wrestle with a guy with a broken arm and calling it "a sweet victory". As soon as his Achilles ruptured/tore whatever and his mobility was that of a farm tractor the in fight odds went from 5/1 bellew to 1/8 and Hayes went from 1/6 to 11/2 but the injury had nothing to do with that I guess either. We could all see he was going to lose due to injury. It's a win but... It's not exactly a sweet win. Find it pretty strange to be honest.
Don't try and give it you bellend, I've picked plenty of underdogs - a fair few of which have won so you're barking up the wrong tree there. As others have stated you also said Haye in 3 was the most likely and your prediction that if he didn't he'd be blowing didn't come true. You've made yourself look a right **** here.
It was funny that the girl with jonny and Aj mentioned it, nobody knew where to look. Haye cant make a big deal out of it as any future fight will be out the window. I can only assume that everyone saying what injury? Haye bottled it etc were watching the fight intoxicated.
yeah I found that a bit ridiculous. you don't want to play down a victory but the injury clearly played a part. Toney was talking in the post fight press conference like he was walking Haye down and staggering him, when he was doing that because he had one leg lol. not to mention it is a bit silly. Bellew should just admit Haye got injured and agree to a rematch in an ideal world, but instead is talking like he legitimately beat a heathy Haye.
Thing is Bellew did what he said from the start...so that's why he's talking the same way... Honestly though...no injury and Haye was winning that fight...points or late stoppage. Haye did look a shadow of his former self though. Still had enough to win imo but he's not what he was. You can't swing like that and expect to beat a decent fighter...he was trying to take the guys head off...technique went out the window. You have to set things up...Jab right hand was always Hayes best tool...
May have already been said in this thread but I have not looked. But apparently Bellew broke his right hand in the second round.
Haye lost. He looked very poor and likely has gained an injury that might thankfully just end his career. The fight proved neither Bellew or Haye have any reason to be fighting in the HW division.
