Posting this because Haye is probably the most slated boxer on this forum yet this is a pretty decent thing he's trying to do to help a fellow fighter out and, in doing so, Haye would obviously be losing out on PPV revenue for himself to cover the purses. If he can somehow get Selby in a competitive defence it will be a great boost to what's already an entertaining card.

Let's not forget also that he donated £100k of ticket sales from the Gjerjaj farce fight to Nick Blackwell which is very generous for a supposedly "broke" boxer.

No idea why Haye gets slated when he makes gestures like this and is one of our best champion boxers over the last twenty years.

Lol are you crazy I used to be a big fan of him but I'd be here all day if I was giving all the reasons why he gets slated. He's an embarassment to UK boxing.

and he's hardly one of our best fighters of the last 20 years hahahaha. he could have been though,, but he doesn't care about achievements.. it's all about the money and fame for this celebrity joke.

 

So it's all about the money for Haye who is supposedly broke according to people here yet I have just cited two examples - one where he donated a sum larger than most boxers' purses and another where he is trying to add a quality fighter to his card at his own expense.

And he's easily one of our best fighters over the past twenty years. The unified CW Haye is easily top 10 P4P if you are compiling a list of British boxers from the last two decades.

 

I get the grief he gets...fighting audley, the pullouts, the toe...

Do think it's a bit harsh...he seems a nice guy, relatively intelligent, has charisma.

Genuinely agree he is one of our best boxers of the last 20 years. Unified cruiserweight champ and a title holder at heavyweight. We don't have many unified and 2 weight world champions.

Who has been better? Calzaghe, Lewis, Hamed, Hatton, arguably Froch, arguably Fury but he's a drug cheat and won one big fight...he's surely in the top 10 despite some disappointment at heavyweight...

 

Haye is trying to get Selby signed to his promotional company no doubt.

Yes Arguably...he was never the best in the division nor was he a 2 weight champ. Top fighters beat him. At cruiserweight I'd pick Haye over any other cruiser of the last 20 years. But I would probably pick Froch over Haye nevertheless...just think you could make the case the other way.

Eitherway...Haye is one of the Top 10 British fighters of the last 20 years.

Froch, Calzaghe, Lewis and Collins ( if you class them as British), Eubank, Benn, Frampton, Fury, Hatton all above him

Burns ( a 3 weight world champion) based on achievements maybe as well
