Valuev vs Holyfield was far more boring than this fight... although I may be a bit biased as I saw this one live and the atmosphere was pretty awesome. I also can't see how people had it close, I was square on pretty close to ringside and valuev barely hit Haye. I know Haye didn't land too much but he did land pretty much every shot he threw and won by a clear 4 rounds.
I was talking about bout with chagaev who also won by majoritydecision same as haye , (Holyfield Lost by sd ,but from my perspective he did better job than david and he's almost 50 now..) Haye won clearly 116-112 on my card , but after such a shitty fight:tired they're both losers in my eyes.
Definitely not great. It was quite ordinary. Valuev can't excite a flock of flies. Haye was not himself in that fight. Something was wrong. I think he showed too much respect to the big fella. Maybe it was the hand injury, or not, but, something definitely was not quite right.
The Haye Valuev fight was as real as a WWF smackdown fight. Even the village idiot saw Valuev pulling punches constantly. When he finally did throw a punch that connected he would stop for no reason . The fight was another Don King comedy production. I have been following boxing all my life and this was the fakiest fight of them all. The whole pub in Dublin was laughing at the spectacle. When boxers really fight to retain their crown they fight with urgency and try to trash their opponent.:|:nut
I think the fight may have appeared boring to some because of Valuev's reluctance to fight like a champion and the hand injury stopped Haye from exciting us as he promised he would. I for one though enjoyed the fight although i did score it a draw and was suprised Haye got the nod in Germany :thumbsup
The suspense was definately there in the fight. I wouldnt watch it again though, but it was good to watch live.
