Somewhat unsurprisingly, 6 pages into a thread on the same subject over in The ****** Room, the above quote was never mentioned.

Absolute disgrace. I wont watch it and if it happens then I have lost a HUGE amount of respect that I have for Haye. I've spent months defending him on the GF against people who simply hate him because he is British and feel that he was totally within his rights to fight the fights he has fought at Heavyweight.

But if he takes this pay day rather than take on the fights he banged on about and spent so long talking his way into, then it is a ****ing embarrassment.

I don't want to even hear any defence for this **** shower of a bout. It strongly looks like Haye and Booth are going to duck the Klits, and unlike the morons on the GF I know it sure isn't fear on Hayes part, but it clearly suggests that making easy money is a much greater priority than doing what he said he was going to do and build a real legacy at the weight.

On a personal level, that's fine, his health, his risks, his financial future. But in terms of having respect in the sport, he deserves to be derided if he takes this route.
Harrison has done NOTHING to warrant a shot at anyone and was seconds away from losing again to an over the hill, domestic level fighter.

EDIT: Just seen that Times quote and I hope it is something that does reflect Booth and Hayes thinking, but the fact that they are even talking to Harrisons camp worries me. Booth also said there were several other options. Who? He said he wanted Wlad, he spent months **** talking Wlad to get here and he know has a belt to go with it and Wlad wants the fight. If he doesn't fight him, then Povetkin will, so Chagaev is the only other acceptable opponent and even that is a let down given how much he has gone on about fighting the Klits.

EDIT AGAIN: Adamek would be fine as an opponent.

Wish/Hope they'd go for a better opponent, instead of a British household name. Harrison was ba-rutal in the last fight, no way should he be in a fight with Haye.

A better opponent like Adamek or Chagaev would be much better. Could do great numbers too if they build it up properly, show a couple of their fights on Sky in the 2 weeks before, let people know they're a good challenge.

Casual fans could be turned off by Harrison fight, it will be a bit of a joke.

Aye. Apparently he's been quite influential in telling Wlad to make sure that this gets out into the media. :rofl

joe public knows Audley Harrison's name - he's an olympic hero and used to be in the tabloids every other day with his successes.

once Sky hype up this fight it will sell.

"the great Audley career comeback" etc. - the clash of the British titans.

If it comes off I am relying on Ian Darke to tell it how it is.

Because Adam Smith, Nicky Piper et al will be pretending it is Lewis V Bruno all over again
