Didn't Adam Booth say before "Its a fair 50/50 split of the money or there's no deal". Why did Booth/Haye change their tune yet again? I guess it's obvious now that Haye currently has very little interest in fighting Wladimir. That may or may not change in the future. Who's the real loser? Us, the boxing fans.
Surely that was about the purse rather than TV money though? The purse should be 50/50, which it would be, and the TV money should go to the name in each country. Maybe 75/25 of RTL's money to Wlad and 75/25 of Sky's money to Haye. It makes sense. Fewer than 25% of German's will be waiting to watch Haye and the same for over here, where people aren't interested in Wlad.
I really don't get this bean-counter mentality - there is more at stake than mere cash. Haye has an opportunity here to fight for, and potentially win, the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. Virtually every boxer on the face of the planet would give their left knacker for that opportunity, it is the highest achievement in the sport. Do you realize how many fighters busted their guts for years in the gym and never got that chance? Here it is sitting on a silver platter for Haye - if he passes is up because of quibbling over 5-10% of the purse then he is an idiot and will regret it every day of his life after he retires. Having a crack at the genuine title is worth far more than getting an extra 5-10% of the purse. After all, 60% of nothing is less than 50% of a giant amount. And that's if Haye loses. If he wins, he will make so much money that his current stash will look like chump change, not to mention setting up a classic grudge match with Vitali which would be the most anticipated HW fight of the century so far. This is boxing, not accountancy. If he turns the match down, he'll ruin his legacy, pass up millions, and be known as ducker Haye for the rest of his life.

It works both ways. WALDO wants to add the WBA to his belts, why is he passing up the opportunity to win it over the sake of "quibbling over 5-10%"?

Did Ali or Louis turn down their opportunity to fight for the title because they thought they could earn another 5-10% of the gate? Some people seem to be thinking this is like a business deal or something. No it isn't. It's not a new supermarket negotiating the price for a site, or Microsoft deciding how much to charge for Window this year. It's a fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. Sure, neither side wants to be sold short, but quibbling over the details is secondary to making the fight actually happen. This kind of chiseling bean-counting mindset is exactly what is ruining the sport of boxing.
Both Haye and Klitschko should be stripped of all there belts. They are both bad for boxing. This is the reason boxing is dying. There both scared to risk there weak chins. WHo the hell wants to see Wlad fight yet another tomato can(Povetkin)? HBO did the right thing.

I think you do not know nothing about ticket prizes in germany, when Wladimir boxes in a "normal arena". 50:50 was more than fair. Wlad now fights his mandatory and Povetkin is a much more proven Heavyweight than Haye. Haye has the bigger mouth but Povetkin the bigger boxing skills. He won olympic gold. What did Haye won at the Amateurs? He was knocked out.
Wlad is the champion, Haye is not - he's an alphabet belt-holder, no more. The recognised HW champsionship is worth far more. So a 50/50 offer is pretty darn reasonable. For Wlad this would just be one more defence. For Haye it's his chance to become the undisputed #1. Haye needs it more for boxing legacy. Even if he's a mercenary, he will make millions more in this fight, and if he doesn't get crushed in 2-3 rounds, millions more fighting Vitali afterwards (who is old and there to be taken). Even on purely financial terms it is idiotic not to take the fight. The only explanation is that he or his promoters are scared. Not an admirable quality in a boxer. If Spinks can step in with prime Tyson, Haye can step in with the K brothers.
Once again, who the **** is HAYE? who is he? where is he known beyond UK? everyone knows Klits, just ask any casual sports fan (not particularly boxing) who the best is in HW and for **** sake, there is no possibility Haye would be the asnwer. Klit generated a lot of $$$$ fighting Sosnowski (a total noname guy) which was still more (or very similar) than Haye fighting Ruiz (over-hyped bum with a big name). Most of UK fans want to see Haye fighting Klit, not just Haye for Haye (again i mean those sane fans). If you really believe Haye/Harrison would be a huge sellout you must be strongly deluded. It's not the same situation like Adamek/Golota. Adamek had been actually an underdog in that fight (1st fight in HW which was to be definitly way too much for "little" Adamek and what's more, Golota unlike Harrison, is a legend of polish boxing). HOW NOT EVEN ANSWERING TO 50-50 may be argued? Is there any normal person that would believe Haye may actually get more money than Klits? It's as reasonible as Haye's "press ban". One more thing. Someone said that Adamek prefers fighting Klits to Haye, which is not true. Adamek claims he wishes to fight Haye cuz it would be a better show (i guess he just see there more chances for himself) but he says also that fighting Klits is much more likely to happen than Haye and thats why he picked Grant for now. Everyone wants to fight haye (from known reasons), but only few believe it.
