I agree. Wlad is the true champion of the division and he doesn't need Haye. He's been the highest earner in the division and its biggest star. Haye is big money in England but Wlad doesn't need him. Haye on the other hand has only had his last three fights at heavyweight and he has a second tier title. Haye needs to fight Wladimir more then Wladimir needs Haye. That being said I don't totally blame Haye for this fiasco. Reading the interview that Kalle Sauerland just gave on the contract negotiations between the two camps two things stuck out to me. The first being that Kalle never really mentioned what Haye turned down, he just said that Haye was unhappy with the financial side of the bout. The second thing was that Kalle intimated that the number of people that have a stake in Haye's next couple of fights and that this made it difficult to come to a financial arrangement that worked for Haye. Which is what I think is the biggest problem with these negotiations. David may be a lot of things but the one thing I think I can say for certain is that he is probably the worst whealer and dealer I have everseen and his trainer is not a manager no matter what his bussiness card says. Haye is ambisious but unfortunently in my opinion he's probably agreed to two of the worst deals I have everseen. The first being the orriginal deal he signed with Wladimir...that was highway robery at its best and I have no idea what he was thinking when he signed it. The other being the deal he made with Don King and Sauerland to fight NK. Which if I remember correctly gives both parties at stake in Haye's next three fights. I think the problem here is unless they find a way to squeez more money out of this fight or unless Haye finds a way to get the Klits to agree to a financial deal where they get paid less then David (never going to happen), by the time Haye is done paying everyone who has a stake in him he's left with not enough money for himself to justify the risk. If I was Haye I would want to take a couple of fights against bums that had little hope just to get these guys paid off so that when I fight for the big money it all comes my way. The catch 22 of his situation is that after they gave him a free crack at the title they controlled the people that have a stake in Haye aren't going to accept making a minimal amount of money off him so there are only a limited number of fights outside of the klit bros that they`d ever sign off on. And I got bad news for Haye fans. I'd be willing to bet that an all british show down with Audley Harrison would be one they would they would sign off on and would work for Haye interms of having a garaunteed win and getting one step closer to having control of his career back. Adam booth has already gone on record as saying that he hadn't spoken to Audley, he doesn`t want the Audley fight and that David Haye would get massacured by fans if he ever accepted it....but believe me if he himself hasn't at least started negotations with Audley one of the interested stakeholders probably has.
Obviously you've never seen the tens of thousands that pack arenas in Germany. Here's the deal regarding the TV rights and split. 1. Germany is FREE TV. 2. UK is PPV 3. Because of 1 & 2, even if Wladimir is the bigger draw, revenue from #2 could possibly be more than #1. An all in 50/50 SPLIT RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE, NO OPTIONS, is MORE THAN FAIR. And much more than Haye deserves. It was Haye who challenged Wladimir on the escalators. It was Haye who wore those t-shirts. It was Haye who went on for months about how he was going to clean out the division, starting with the Klitschkos. It is NOW Haye who has pussied out of the fight.
Yet Haye was prepared to dismiss all that and take just the UK TV rights. Oh ****. Now explain to me again how Haye is the coward in this scenario?

I see your argument, but Wlad is the champ, in my eyes he actually deserves a bigger piece. In fact 70-30 would be fair I think. Hay hasn't done anything at the HW division, and outside of the UK he isn't much of a draw. My opinion, Wlad wanted the fight and came down to 50-50 which he should'nt have had to do, ESPECIALY after Haye wanted him so bad and talked so much ****. So, if there was more money on teh UK side of teh PPV, then Wlad shouldn't have had to make that concession to. All things being equal, i'm a fan of both and wanted to see this fight bad, Wlad made the concessions to make the fight and Haye pulled a major ***** move. But if he can make a ton of $ fighting bums like Audley Harrison then I guess its smart, but he needs to get his ego in check or he will lose alot of fans.
I fail to see your logic. Let's break that down for a second: Sugar Ray Leonard was the challenger to champion Marvin Hagler. Leonard always made more money than Hagler. It was the biggest fight Hagler could ever make. Muhammad Ali was the challenger to champion Larry Holmes. Hmmm... three words: MUHAMMAD ****ING ALI. Naseem Hamed vs Marco Antonio Barrera for a vacant title. This one is your most recent example and doesn't apply to the situation due to the circumstance of there being no defense. Of course Hamed made more money, he was undefeated, **** hot, and a 3.5 to 1 favorite. David Haye (WBA, 2nd defense) vs Wladimir Klitschko (IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring Belt, 9th defense) Does this really add up? Let's look at the equation: Sugar Ray Leonard > Marvin Hagler Muhammad Ali > Larry Holmes Naseem Hamed > Marco Antonio Barrera David Haye > Wladimir Klitschko ?????? In conclusion: FAIL. You owned yourself.
What do you mean you are not sure about the 9th defense thing? LOL, just look on Boxrec if you aren't certain. Wladimir's next fight will be his 9th defense since defeating Chris Bryd in April of 2006.
You can't be serious. atsch :--( Lucky to get what he's getting now??? Wladimir will be taking on his 9th STRAIGHT TITLE DEFENSE, and Haye has a belt that should really be Wladimir's. Yet, Wlad will be "lucky to get what he's getting now". LOL :--(
I must be dreaming, because ppl here claim Haye turned down 50-50 offer in which i couldn't have believed before (cuz Haye in my eyes simply doesn't deserve 50-50). How hardcore deluded fan you must be to excuse Haye... all in all, even if it turns out to be 55-45 in favour of Vlad (cuz of 50-50 split of UK tv) its still far too much for Haye. Damn, he is nobody in comparison to Vlad and when some1 gave an example of Mosley/Mayweather where Haye was to be Floyd in this "metaphor" i bursted out laughing One more thing. Why the hell should it be Haye who dictate terms? Who is the CHAMPION and who is the "champion" here? UK boxing fans are not going to pay just for Haye, they are going to pay Haye fighting Vlad, not Harrison (i mean those sane fans, not deluded).
After all these years (yes, its been almost two years now!!!) I'm surprised there's still some fringe, desperate for a hero, brainwashed on British tabloid element willing to defend Haye's blatant ducking not only of Wlad but of any live opponent in this division. Wasn't this coward supposed to be the saviour? Some saviour. 3 fights in over 20 months. Currently, he's the joke of the HW division.
It's pretty pathetic to still hear the hayeboys defend this coward. After I read the article on fightnews, i assumed it was official that haye wants no part of Wlad and never did. A 50/50 split of EVERYTHING is more than fair, and a little too fair if you ask me or any other objective fan. Of course Wlad would want 50% of the UK tv money. It's a much larger market than germany and alot of those fans want to see wlad smash haye, so why should haye get 100% of the tv money from a larger TV market especially when he's the challenger. Fighting weight, you should probably log off 'cause we're not going to keep you on suicide watch if and when your boyfriend haye fights Wlad. Because one thing is 100% certain. He gets KTFO if he does man up and get in the ring with the heavyweight champ. Only 1 man is holding this fight up. Haye
