Most in the top 10 fighting three times a year at most and hardly any fighting against one another and you can't see why the era sucks? :huh
yep the big marker is that the top 20 arnt fighting each other, this sucks for the fans, what made the 70s so good was that nobody was afraid of each other, they fought whoever was in front of them. There are good fights to be made in the HW division, but will we see them who knows.
Holmes era did suck, but it was because of wasted talent not because guys were continuously avoiding one another. When I get home in about 9hrs I'll do a breakdown for you.
There are many good heavyweights fights coming up. Fury-Cunningham Arreola-Stiverne TT-Price Also I would wait until the opponents of Pulev, Povetkin and Haye are known. Maybe there are 1-2 good fights coming up. And then BIG fight in summer?. Wladimir vs Povetkin? (IF they fight)
Povetkin did not won over a top ten fighter? Or Haye? Or do you mean guys like Price or Fury? Both try to make theire way up. And TT is a hard test for a prospect like Price. Especially when he was KOed in the last fight. Price is very brave to want TT straight again.
Who have Povetkin or Haye fought lately? And stop holding up prospects like Fury and Price like they have accomplished anything yet because they haven't. Hopefully it improves, but judging by the current trend it really doesn't look promising.
Also Mitchell vrs. Banks. Povetkin vrs Wawrzyk might be ok too. Wlad/Povetkin a superfight? If Povetkin has improved under his new coach, then maybe. Right now Haye II, Pulev, or the Fury/Cunningham winner would be more interesting than Povetkin. Povetkin is game but Wlad will use his height/reach and athleticism to not get hit much.
Cant believe I actually agree with you. I don't get the hate for Haye not wanting the Charr fight. First off, that's the most probable fight. It's in the works sotosay. Second, Warwyk is trying to sign vs Potvetkin. Third....who gives a **** who Haye fights, as long as it's a top 50 HW or CW. IMO, Haye could fight Brian Minto, Vinny Maddalone, Shane Cameron or Rob Calloway to shake loose the rust. We already know the outcome of any suck fight, but what difference does it make so long as he's fighting a winner, with some ring credentials????? As for Warwyk........sure he may have some chin issues, but he's a BIG HW, and just like Charr, he's a younger proven winner. If this is his step up fight, all the better for us fans. Moneywise......Haye vs Fury or Potvetkin probably makes all involved the most dough. :think
Cmon.....you cant compare this era to past eras. This era has a much wider talent pool. A guy like Charr woulda been top 5 in the 80s. A guy like Malik Scott would be a titlist. The talent pool today is much deeper than previously because the feild has been opened up to include the former soviet states and Russia, China etc. Hell, even Oz is producing solid HWs. In the 80s they had to fight one another or they couldnt fight at all unless they fought journeymen. Hell, journeymen like Young and Wepner were getting title shots.:yep
The big problem is when Haye came in the HW division he emphasised on himself being different from the rest of the heavyweights, he called himself a heavyweight savour, criticised other HW fighters for fighting bums and not showing heart in fights, but he is the same as the rest of them.
