The cruiserweight factor does add a little bit but I wouldn't say beating the Klits is better than any win on Lewis' resume. For a start he stopped Vitali when he had one foot in retirement, but it is mainly the longevity in his favour. Although maybe we should save this discussion for if/when Haye fights/beats the klitschko's.
English Cruiserweight title holder after 8 fights Won the European Cruiserweight title in his 16th fight, defends title 3 times, with last defence against the unbeaten and future WBC title holder Fragomeni Wins the WBC, WBA and Ring cruiserweight titles by beating Mormeck in his own back yard in 21st fight Wins WBO title by KO'ing Enzo Beats 7 foot giant to win WBA Heavyweight title If he goes on to beat VK & WK and unifies the Heavyweight title, he must surely be Brittan’s greatest boxer
No chance.... Golota was meant to be the most dangerous fighter in the world, so was Ruddock. Add Holyfield, David Tua, Linear champion Shannon Briggs, a prime Vitali, Holyfield, a past it Tyson, Rahman..... i'd take most of them to beat Vlad h2h and some of them to beat Vitali. This heavyweight division is only marginally better then the one Calzaghe inherited from Benn, Jones and Eubank.
Golota? What? He's not anywhere near the Klitschko's class regardless of what people said at the time. People said Lacy was awesome at the time! Neither is Tua, and God I love Tua. Briggs, Ruddock, these are all wins cut from the same cloth, they aren't GREAT wins but all together they make up a good resume. His best win is Holyfield who was past prime, Tyson was absolutely meaningless. I maintain Wlad as he is today, in the prime of his career is better than any of those fighters by a comfortable margin. The Vitali Lewis fought was better but Haye could get one over that victory by winning by KO or clear on points.
On top of the CW achievements, to win a HW title, or beat the top HWs (if he does) is not the same as moving up in weight between other divisions as there is no maximum weight, so extra credits for Haye.
From what I've seen so far, I think a lot of half decent heavyweights, take Bruno for example, would possibly beat Haye.... that means I feel a little uncomfortable with seeing him ranked highly at the moment. Of course if he beats the Klits, then that changes things greatly.
Don't forget that at the time, when he faced Lewis, he was coming off two victories (what should have been victories) over Bowe though.
Why are people saying 2 more wins and it questionably makes him Britains greatest ever?? When this is the poorest heavyweight division in years, the same division crying out for a little excitment. Im not sure how Haye will do with either of the K's, really nervous, Granted he cleared up at cruiser but hardly hung around after, and now defeated the weakest Champ in the division who disputedly beat a 45 year old Holyfield.
Ask yourself this... how would Wlad have done against the Tyson who beat Ruddock or the Bowe who beat Golota.
Do you mean the Golota who raped Bowe, Jeff - or the Bowe of those fights? I'm confused.com I'd say the Tyson of the Ruddock fights would probably blast him out early...... Golota would find a way to lose, and Bowe was washed up by then, despite only being 28 - that said, even then he would be able to take Wlad's shots and most likely rough him up a great deal....... whether he wins is debatable.
Beating both Klits won't put him close to eclipsing Lewis in my book. Lewis was a top HW for many years and beat a succession if challengers, after beating the Klits Haye would at least have to string a few defences together to come close.
