"Marg wasn't landing many of his shots until he had Cotto broken down some in the mid to late rounds." If this was the case (which I don't think it is) but let's say it was. If the commentary wasn't one sided then why did we hear Lampley screaming in the middle of the tenth round that Margarito had not landed one authoritative punch in all of the ninth round and had not landed a solid punch half way through the tenth?

By your reckoning Margo didn't get anything done until the mid to late rounds, so that is why the announcers weren't saying anything positive about the shots Margo was (or not) landing. But then in the late rounds when Margo is absolutely destroying Cotto Lampley still is saying he hasn't landed anything "authoritative". Which by the way if you remember Cotto proceeded to stagger back to his corner at the end of the round!

In the end if you break down the way the fight ended, it was obviously an accumulation KO. You can't point at a single punch that got Cotto hurt. And with an accumulation KO it means that you have beaten on the guy for round after round, but yet HBO didn't want to recognise the work Margo was doing inside.

Icouldnt beleive that Lampley said Margs is not landind anything that hurts Cotto the round before the fight got stopped.
Even my boy was saying why dont they talk about all the inside work Margs is doing
Cotto 1 pop shots and un were getign more praise than Margs effective pressure wich did botther Cotto or he wouldnt have ran 11 rounds he would have went toe to toe

    Agreed.

Margarito would often land with multiple uppercuts inside, and Lampley wouldn't say a thing.

Lampley is the worst commentator ever.

It was absolutely disgusting how he favoured Cotto throughout the entire fight until the KO.

Lampley is nothing but a shill and a cheerleader.

It made me sick to hear Lampley sucking Cotto's a$$. Steward was the one saying lets see what happens after 6 or 7 rounds....

I recall one point that really pissed me off.

Lampley "Big right hand by cotto" ignoring the four shots that margo landed seconds before the right by Cotto.

Max "Cotto is hurt, Cotto is hurt"

    bell rings

Lampley "Another Round for Cotto, he is landing all the clean punches that are snapping Margo's head back"

Im like what the fuk does Margo have to do to win a round on these guys cards.

HBO commentators make me sick. People like them are why fans are always crying robbery. They are completely biased in their commentating. I'll you what though. The only big named HBO fighter that they didn't constantly dick ride was Floyd. Some fights they had to give him his props. Other times, they basically invented reasons to **** on him. Other than him though, HBO makes sure to take care of their guys on fight night.

The brass at HBO had a hardon thinking about a last year fight between Cotto and Oscar, this is a nightmare for them, Margo has no following, but maybe this will help, maybe he will draw a following after this very impressive win....I had Cotto as #1 p4p and Margo beat his ass.

The comentary I was listening to was going on about how much more powerful and accurate cotto's shots were and how all Margo shots were being blocked and didnt seem to notice that Cottos nose was broken by the second and his face was getting torn up not to mention he was taking some great shots to the body.

I didnt make any predictions on the fight before it happened and didnt favour either but had a small value bet on Margo by stoppage and glad I did. The commentary was really pro cotto though.

If I had been listening to the fight without watching it, I would have thought Cotto was dismantling Margarito. Listening to Lampley and Kellermen, it was as if Margarito was not landing any telling blows. Looking at Cotto's face though, I thought...somebody is hitting him. Kellerman is a joke...where have you gone Larry Merchant??? lol. My props to Manny Steward...his commentary and knowledge were top notch like always.

personally i had cotto way ahead on points, before the final round..

i thought cotto boxed well, landed the harder and cleaner shots, with much more precision, thats why i cant disagree much with the commentating..

although i will acknowledge that a couple of times, they didnt mention margo´s punches, but cotto´s.. but i wouldnt go so far, as calling it nuthugging.

    Disagreed TOTALLY.

HBO, ("Home of Beloved Oscar") has ALWAYS been a biased organization. Remember, during a live broadcast interview of RJJ and Tarver (Cannot remember before which fight) Tarver called out Lampley and told him "Jim, be sure to put away the pom poms and call it right down the line"

He wasnt joking. Jim Lampley is horribly biased sometimes, although he is great at what he does, and at this point, it's not an HBO fight unless he is calling it. But he isnt as good as Al Bernstein.

That bugged eyed, love child of Marty Feldman's, Max Kellerman is another matter. I STILL dont get why ESPN replaced the Immortal and Legendary Bernstein with this laughable, 13 year old looking, has never stepped into a ring, or done anything ahtletic in his life, dumb ass MOFO. Give me his salary, and weeks at a time to read up on boxing history, and I could easily do what he does. He is annoying. He cannot carry the jockstrap of Sean O'Grady, and you can quote me on that.
