You're never going to convince anyone of your cause when you keep calling Wlad an average athlete and all it does is make you look like a racist. You make it sound like we've got thousands of athletes here that can do what he does and we don't. It's bull****. Also, the majority of our most athletic boxers have been popped for steroids or other performance enhancing drugs over the past 10-15 years. Kind of makes it easier to look better when you're cheating. To segue off your track analogy, Carl Lewis got busted too- but it was covered up and he's still a legend here. The difference I see is that in the US, it's cool if you cheat as long as you still kick ass, because then we'll just say that we still would've won without the cheating anyways. Just don't make the mistake of being a foreign fighter who gets busted otherwise you'll get railroaded- again to go back to your track reference, just look at how the Canadian Ben Johnson's career got ruined while most of that race's participants tested positive at one time or another, with almost no fanfare.
I agree with HBO, Wlad's KOs will never match the excitement of consistent high level classics like this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7fMYTS7rkE&feature=PlayList&p=36B48F17A295A0E4&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=27[/ame] This content is protected [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U03_krwZLo8"][/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myd-GG_4YZg[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PB_r46LKw9g&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_NzagelDQo&feature=related[/ame]
Klitschkos are very skilled fighters and have highest KO percentage. They knock people out. Void does nothing. Greenbrug has a personal vendetta against Klitschkos and that's what is so appears to be about. I will go to Showtime. Vlad Vs. Povetkin, two gold medalists! HBO wants to show some undefeated boring fighter vs. a wino from the alley. I will not watch there boring crap. Vitali and Vlad have been trying to get Haye into a right for a long time now. Arreola/Minto exciting fight?
Listen, I've read some of your posts and NEVER agree with ANY of them. So, I doubt I will feel compelled to post again to you after this - whatever your response. That's point one. The nice thing about being white is I can speak honestly about what I observe about other white athletes without fear of a "racist" attribution. That's point two. [Especially as I competed and started at a major US university back in the day and think highly of a lot of different athletes from everywhere - in boxing I've watched non-American Pac since his very first fights in '95 - as they happened while living in Asia in those years - and thought him special with a chance to do something significant in the sport - and he obviously has. He has moved up multiple divisions and relied on supreme striking speed and quickness. His success hasn't been predicated on all the decent athletes ignoring the sport or being larger than his opponents to outlast them in boring safety first affairs.] As for steroids and performance enhancing drugs, unless you are really young, the pervasiveness of their existence is more commonly associated with European Olympians and Iron Curtain athletes going back to the 70s. Of course, the Russians were already experimenting with such things in the 50s and the US was right there at approximately the same time for the same reasons. I'm sure many could run with the idea that the Klitschkos have taken their share of performance enhancing drugs including steroids. Attempting to accuse what you call our US athletes and vindicate everyone else - while you noted "being a foreign fighter who gets busted ..." - is a curious endeavor - maybe the attribution of "racist" (or bigot) is a kettle whistling - in light of the professional sport success of such a small portion of our population beyond their quantitative representation of only 10-15%. Have you some issues you want to confess? Now might be a good time as it seems to be even more fashionable (of late) due to the material economic duress so many are feeling. Comfort in numbers you know ... Lastly, I don't have to question myself or my opinions because I know what I've done in life and experienced. I'm not discussing whether they are or are not athletes - rather, addressing the marginal difference at the highest end of human potential that distinguishes the many from the truly exceptional or extraordinary. In that light, the Klitschkos are better conditioned and usually larger than a group of heavyweight athletes that are UNDENIABLY pedestrian. No one over here rates guys like this as top flight athletic talent - never have .. never will: Calvin Brock, Zuri Lawrence, John Ruiz, Jonathon Banks, Tony Thompson, Derrick Jefferson, Chris Arreola, Ray Austin, Eddie Chambers, Jameel McCline, Lamon Brewster, DaVarryl Williamson, Charles Sufford, Ed Mahone, Kevin Johnson, Lance Whittaker, Cedric Boswell, Brian Minto, Chazz Witherspoon, and any other limited non-talents that I might have missed ... Being better than this group doesn't impress top US athletes. I've been around enough to know that my opinion isn't unusual among them either ... notwithstanding my own eyes, I've heard too many - too many times - point out the brothers' obvious ring and athletic limitations. They are not horrible athletes but they are not extraordinary ones or extraordinarily talented either. The bulk of my post is pretty explanatory. Take down your biases and try and acknowledge the realities .. you think that the group (delineated above) of pedestrian US fighters is the best talent in America? When you get beyond the undeniable weaknesses of these US fighters/athletes you can begin to look objectively at the Klitschkos. I suggest you ask yourself how those pedestrian US athletes were/are professionals and then compare them to what you see in other sports. If you are in America you should know and understand that entertainment is a major business activity. If there is no substantive interest in the Klitschkos it surely isn't because we are all racists and not knowledgeable. In fact, it is quite the opposite. When the best athletes are not boxing - the sport is not going to be watched. The decline in boxing has been gradual but multi-generational. There have been a few bright spots - and there will continue to be - but with fewer and fewer exceptional talents taking up the sport it has become a lower level of entertainment in which too many old men are able to hang around too long, little guys move up because the comp is weak, and limited extra sized big men plod in dull contests. Thus, the "war years" ....:-((
That's because you can't stand to see Klitschkos beat tall your heroes. They will keep on beating all your heroes and there is nothing HBO can do about it.
Keep responding with book length nonsense to try and justify your babble. All I know is that never in all my time posting on ESB have I felt better about my opinions than when I read that line right there. I can only hope that trend continues indefinitely. :good You have no problem admitting other races have elite athletes because you're a white boy who couldn't cut it athletically, and if you can convince people that white people can't compete athletically as a whole, it's a kind of coping mechanism for you because you can simply hide behind that as your excuse. You're completely oblivious of how widespread PED's are, which tells me you didn't compete for **** athletically at any major university. It'd be pretty sad to see if you weren't so convinced of your own bull**** story, which just adds to the comedy of the whole thing.
I am surprised this is a big deal. I always thought HBO kind of dropped the HW division many years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if this is partly due to financial concerns as well. TV networks are hurting and cutting costs around the world. Budgets are being decimated.
Wlad has been KO'd 3 times by journeyman. WHAT A FIGHTER!! Definitely better than mayweather... oh wait, being KO'd isn't a good thing is it.
Seems like HBO prefers to show two fat American bums go at each other (think Peter - Toney) rather than see a big tall dude jab a small fat guy to a bloody pulp
HBO Sports has much less money, they decided to take it from Boxing as well as from others. HBO Boxing had to rationalise and took in on the obvious scapegoat - the Ks. Not American, boring, fighting overseas, bla bla... I think they screwed up the thing. I can understand the decision, and I'm sure the Ks would understand it too, but saying all the above reasons is just insulting to anyone, and I can only can guess how the Ks are feeling. My only hope is that once Haye one of the Ks happens, they don't go back to HBO because they'll roll a bigger paycheck than, say, Showtime. I would also write to HBO if I had a subscription and paying for it...no Ks, no boxing, and it's just a beginning of a trend. If you don't see that HBO reasons are bull**** and that they are just rationalising, than you'll be surprised when next year you don't see another division.
