What about Winner of Ortiz/Alexander vs Bradley Winner of Khan/Maidana vs Hatton I hope Ricky never steps foot in a ring again (he's gotta be at least 14 stone at the moment) but HBO won't mind the extra ££ he adds. I'd then fancy an all british semi and an all american semi. Pipe dream eh?
They should have Bradley fight urango, winner of that fights winner of this and becomes a perfect opponent for Pacs final fight, where the winner takes home all the 140 belts and the ring title. We can dream
It's a tosh line up. Welterweight is stacked enough to have a serious 8 man comp, and if they did none of these 4 would win it.
who would be the 8? theres to much money in seperate fights. the super 6 and this happen because the tournement makes the fights bigger. Mayweather vs Pacquiao could only become less meaningful being part of a tourney
no, the WBA have said that he has to fight Maidana next as hes the interim champ. Alexander and Ortiz arent bad fights for him so this makes sense.
Again, good fighters, no superstar. A tournament between Khan, Alexander, Bradley, Campbell etc creates a top fighter.
A fellow Hampshire man:good Sadly I'm not Richard Schaefer/Bob Arum/Warren etc etc because I would want to make the fights I want to see regardless of money. I suppose we all would. Probably why none of us are millionaire promoters:good
Why does it have to be about establishing the number one fighter? The Super Six doesn't include Lucian Bute, still doesn't mean it's a pointless exercise.
HBO couldn't organise a prayer in a mosque. They'll fkk this up royally. I'll be stunned if Khan is still a Warren fighter AND in this tournament.
rather see urango in there. ortiz hasn't done it yet. or better still get urango and ortiz to fight each other for a place in the tourney. :bbb
Fair point. But it does have WBC champ, WBA champ, former IBF Middleweight Champ, former WBC middleweight champ and 2 previously unbeaten super middleweights. the winner of the line up mentioned at light-welter wouldn't even be unarguably elite at the weight.
Any series of fights, with structure, that brings quality fighters together should be welcomed; regardless of what it establishes.
lol at a 4 man tournament, how crap. 8/16/32 tournaments are where it's at. Especially for a tournament where the 4 men aren't gigantic at all.
