This has already been proven. SHO subscription base saw the biggest increase ever. Let's not kid ourselves though it wasn't all Mayweather but he was part of the broad plan. Funny *******s were all high on SHO when Pac fought there, now they're hating on SHO.
Sounds like your really concerned for floyd boxing_master. If there was a loss of money it would be shotime losing money Not floyd no matter how bad Floyds ppv's flop. As for pac, old Bobby is going to get the bigger cut from manny, so if pacs ppvs flop (like they have been doing) bob arum takes his percent of the cut and pac is left with what ever. Look boxing_master, your arguments are really weak, floyd has a huge contract with shotime and he gets the money he is promised plus ppv share. So regardless of how you try to spin it, Pac is doing alot worse.
thats what the head of sho sports reported about 2 weeks after the fight. couple morons wrote pieces saying it flopped and he came out and said it hit 1m and looks like 1.1 or 1.2 No final #'s were given by sho, outside of the, it hit 1m. so we are just going off outsiders with the 870k. i couldnt care less what anyone gets for guaratees, upside or any phucking money. its just ******s on here claiming head over feet that anything under 1.5 is a flop makes me engage in ignorant conversations. i swear we have the lowest class of iq's on here
So your taking Showtime's word for it You think these guys would stick their necks out and provide false info ? Why would Showtime ever admit they loss money..Doesn't sound like a great PR move ..
i agree, it's looking like it was a smart move by hbo. another loss for showtime in floyd's next fight, i'm predicting espinoza is getting canned.
i think schaeffer/gbp tried to pull what they did with hbo when greenburg and kerry davis were still in charge....not only did hershman didn't go for it, he also got rid of them.
I don't get why everyone thinks this was a move to make money on Floyd's fights. It obviously wasn't about that. There is a reason HBO and pretty much everybody thought the deal was crazy. Bottom line, it wasn't about profitability on his fights. Showtime doesn't care about making money on his fights. That is peanuts for the parent company. This was a power move for the FUTURE of Showtime Boxing. It was a move to draw attention and build the Showtime Boxing brand, which has already made a pretty big impovement. It was a take the loss or break even now, profit later move. Will it be worth it in the end? Hell, I don't know. I can tell you I prefer Showtime cards right now. HBO main events are usually pretty good, but Showtime cards have a lot more depth right now IMO. The Al Haymon connection Floyd brought doesn't hurt that.
