Taylor's big, flashy swings and misses always caught the attention of people and led them to give him more credit than he deserved. That's why he benefitted on the scorecards in so many close, competitive fights.
Now I pretty sure both can kill me with one punch, but if I was a season pro fighter, I perhaps would want to take Mora's power shot compare to Pavlik's jab.
it has it's own place, I don't think they should drop it completely but they push it far too hard. if they just flashed the no's for a couple of seconds 2 or 3 times during the fight and stressed that it shouldn't be taken as gospel that'd be ok. What they're doing nowadays with those figures on the screen supposedly showing where all the punches have landed is a complete joke. I'd like to be able to say that nobody would be stupid enough to accept them as fact but I obviously can't.
Other sports dont have TV companies with a vested interest in one participant. It should be clear to anyone that compubox stats do not tell the whole story of a fight, and are often selectively used by showtime, HBO, and moron fans. No matter what compubox says, nobody looking at that fight with the slightest impartial view could have said Dawson was ahead at the time of the stoppage.
anyone who relies on compubox to score a fight shouldnt score a fight. sure quote it in an argument about who you think landed more or threw more, but dont use it to score rounds. i mean who watches 2 and half minutes, thinks one guy is winning a round, then changes their mind cos some numbers flash up?
