HBO troubles me sometimes, especially with things like this. They win if they create 24/7's, countdowns, whatever, they create hype by doing this and still with this event there is a ?! of incertainty. Of course maybe it will happen later on further notice. ****

HBO is "Home of Beloved Oscar" and these are two Top Rank guys. Politics, my friends.

Yeah, it would be a good idea that could bring new fans to the sport. This is not a huge fight, but it will be incredibly entertainning.

HBO is making a bad business decision -but they think it is a good decision.

I agree, and wasn't it Cotto that drew the lowest HBO rating on a telecast of WCB? Only 1.1 million viewers watching the Gomez fight.

They don't care if his name is Antonio Margarito. They think it would be a bad economical decision to make a countdown show, period.

It's not personal, it's strictly business. :smoke

(Thinking that they are not doing one just because they dislike Margarito is a bit stupid and naive. Conspiracy theories?)

I agree. It's nothing personal towards Margarito cause if anything Cotto has the bigger name here. It's really more his show cause he's more the attraction. Nothing personal towards Margarito at all. It's already good that HBO picked up the fight so not having a countdown special has nothing to do with Margarito.

I think it would be a good business decision to make a countdown show. It would attract more people to watch the fight and probably create more fans.

Clearly, THEY don't think the same.

Do you think they are not doing it because they hate Margarito or something similar? :rofl

It has nothing to do with economics for HBO because they dont pay for the production of the countdown shows, the promoter does. It has to be for some other reason that they are choosing not to air a countdown show for this fight. Perhaps at the request of another promoter :think
