HBO should bring back George Foreman!

Merchant was mentioned, so I responded. That said, I couldn't care less to have Foreman in the seat really either. I'd love Hopkins in that spot.

 

I like Merchant. He's say some funny stuff, he has his favorites (as does everybody), but he's generally on point and comes out with some wonderful quotes.

"Having a beard or a chin is a function of your will power, your ambition - your refusal to yield".

 

Lamps stole that "Bang, Bang, Bang" line outta John Wayne's last movie called "The Shootist" from 1976................... Actually, Ron Howard said that line to Scatman Crothers in a scene out in the barn with the horses......... WORD!!!

B-Hops generally sounds fairly articulate when interviewed, but Hops sounded very out there on TV after his dull win over that vato named 'Ornelas' last December......... Since when has Australia been located in Europe? Hops seemed flustered there.........

ESPN's John Scully does well, but is he the right color / race for HBO???? I hate to say it, but HBO plays the "Race" & "Political" game.........

Instead of telling people to **** OFF, the guys at HBO try to cover their asses' by pleasing everybody....... That right there is ****ed up......... Just go with what is best and works........

Politics and leaders have FAILED for trying to please everybody........... You CAN'T make all of us happy all of the time.........

The only thing Big George did right was react to big shots by saying "ooh"

 

All the HBO guys are terrible. That includes George.

 

Foreman was the best - but I'd settle for Roy Jones returning. I'm really enjoying Tarver's commentary on Showtime at the present.

 

See, again, Tarver in the middle of two white guys "Albert & Bernstein." Showtime is now on to the game........

Whether its HBO or Showtime in 2010, the 3rd man will ALWAYS be "Other" than white.........

The funny thing about Larry Merchant is that he actually knows very little about boxing. In terms of the psychology of a fighter and the technical aspect of what's happening he is nigh-on useless.

I will give you an example:

Larry: "George, Lennox has an arrogance about him that see's him carry his hands low could that be dangerous against Tyson?"
George: "Well Larry you have to hold your guard at the height of your opponent"

How the hell could this guy not know that ?

The thing he does have is charisma, that is what made the Foreman Merchant combination work you had the boxing intelligence of George, the charisma of Merchant made perfect by the underlying hatred the two had for each other. I definately endorse the return of Big George.

Foreman was TERRRRRIBLE!!!!!!!!! He kept talking about how great Trinidad was and how he was gonna stop Hopkins up until Hopkins knocked Trinidad out. Calling Barrera boring. And much much more. He was an idiot and just liked to argue with Merchant and Lampley like because you was a fighter that he saw something that they didnt. He didnt know **** and was wrong 8 times out of ten.

Bring back Roy or give Kevin Kelley a shot.

 

Lampley is the one that says "BOOM!!!" Foreman just goes "oOoOoOoO"

 

Steve Albert doesnt call fights for Showtime anymore Gus Johnson(a black fella) does. So take your race card bull**** somewhere else jackass.

 

Gus is HORRID! He is a huge drop from the over-dramatic Steve Albert....... I was never sold on the Albert bros., but they are better than the newbie Gus Johnson........
