HBO is reportedly working on a 140-pound tournament involving Victor Ortiz, Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander and Amir Khan. The proposed scenario would be for Khan to Face Maidana and Alexander against Ortiz with the 2 subsequent winners facing each other in the finals.

Just read it. That is awesome!!! Lets see how long Ortiz lasts. The guy has the skills but no heart, while you have a guy like Maidana with skills but his real attribute is the heart. Then you have a guy with skils with no chin. LOL this is going to be good

What! That is the worst idea I have ever heard.

Damn, I was hoping for a round-robin kind of thing so we could see more of the potential matchups.

I can't complain too much though, I'll still watch it!

Ortiz imo is the most talented fighter in this grouping and would probably be my early favorite. He gets a ton of grief over getting submitted however it should have never came to that. I think he will prove to have learned from his mistakes and once again align himself for much bigger things.

Really? My initial reaction was to applaud the idea. Explain your displeasure.

Not going to happen. Khan sure won't be in it. Roach already said they would vacate the title rather than face Maidana.

It's an ok idea, but it is disappointing that they didn't get any big names in there. Will these guys get 3-4 million $ each per fight like they do in the Super Six? No, they will not.

HBO is understandably in panic mode because of Showtime's Super Six, but better wait until a real tourney can be put together than put together something which is second-rate.

Money has a way of changing things. I'm sure they'll wait and see how much HBO is willing to splash around before making any decisions.

Frank Warren would never risk Khan against any of those fighters

I wouldn't call it panic more; more-less inspired by. They obviously don't want to commit to the time and money that the Super 6 style tourney would require. The article mentioned that the objective would be to hopefully build up a fighter who could hopefully be marketed as an opponent in a bigger fight; perhaps against Pac or Mayweather.

While interesting, I could not get too excited over a 140 lb tournament that does not include Bradley. Hatton's inclusion would be interesting as well.
