Despite Showtime not having the production of HBO, I believe their commentating is better and less biased. Bernstein and Albert aren't characters like Lampley and Merchant, but I definitely think they know more about boxing.
The sad thing about an HBO broadcast is that they are supposed to be impartial. It seemed like they were out to make Floyd look bad and Hatton look good.
I really don't see how Lederman gave Hatton 4 of the first 6 rounds. He was mauling Floyd and making things uncomfortable, but Mayweather was landing the cleaner shots.
After 6 rounds, I had the exact same scorecard as Lederman, Hatton 57-56. And I didn't watch the HBO feed. Going into the 10th round, Lederman had PBF up by 1 point. Going into the 10th round, I had RH up by 1 point. Harold -- well done. We can disagree on one round, no problem. If I remeber correctly, Lederman also did a MUCH better job scoring the Cotto - Mosley fight than did the official judges. I think Lederman had Cotto winning by a point, or two at most, whereas I had Mosley by a point, if I recall correctly. The judges tonight and for the Cotto fight were a joke. These people seriously need to be able to step back from the 'event' (Puerto Rico sponsored the Cotto fight -- what a joke! & the guy from the USA had an ABSURD lead on the cards tonight -- ridiculous). At least PBF gave Hatton his props after the fight, saying it was a tough fight. If you didn't see that and your scorecard didn't reflect that, you don't know boxing. That was as hard of a fight as PBF had since JLC I. And if Hatton hadn't gotten careless, I think that he would have (on an objective scorecard, not a "Vegas joke card") won the fight. Harold Lederman -- great job. We disagreed on the 7th, but that's not a big deal. Easily the most accurate card I have seen of the night.
And thats the way it should be... Merchant and Steward need to stop thinking they are the reason people tune into the broadcast. Bernstein and Fahood are perfect compliments to any fight.
