Khan vs Gomez I haven't since this fight since the night it happened. Brilliant battle..i remember the build up to the fight. I loved Gomez mindgames but wasn't expecting him to put on one more classic battle like he did. You can see a vast difference in Khan from then and now. He is wrapped up in the fever pitch atmosphere. His machismo is clouding his judgment. What a good trainer can do for a fighter. I miss this Khan..he was exciting and vulnerable but i have to say in space of 2 years he's come on leaps and bounds. There's no real reason for the thread Just say what you feel. Could be about things you notice Khan did then and what he's changed. Or the fight itself or Gomez. I just thought i put up a good fight. :good [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMFvbcwnBxQ&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vMY6VRxlnk&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itALApM4brs&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30AtZuGfz1o[/ame]
After giving him the benifit of the doubt, that fight was the final nail in the coffin on Kahns chin for me.
I remember watching this on my last night working in France, while everyone else was outside playing drinking games I sloped in just in time for the main event. He has come on leaps and bounds but I'd be interested to see how he reacts to a fighter who can give him trouble on the inside, that was hardly a prime Gomez who gave him fits in that department.
I like when Rawling tries to claim it's a open glove punch. At first i must admit i remember thinking it was a stumble but as he gets up you can clearly see he's shaken. I remember the bodyshot crippling Khan and then Khan coming back all guns blazing. He was really an accident waiting to happen back then.
:yep I thought exactly the same. We haven't seen anyone press Khan like Gomez did and on the inside he was getting battered. Just shows how good Gomez was really...that wasn't even 75% of him.
:deal He hasn't fought a pressure fighter since then. That's why I'd like to see him in with Katsidis. Remember Gomez hurting Khan to the body as well, has he being tested there since? :think
I had £10 on Gomez to win by stoppage, his odds were something like 20/1 :yikes. He wasn't far off doing it aswell!!
He's a completely different fighter now. Khan made such a wise move. Oliver is a fabulous trainer but there really is no comparison now.
I remember somebody asking you what you thought Gomez meant when he said about Khan being a world class fighter with world class vulnerabilities. You said you didn't know, and you wasn't sure if Gomez knew either
Gomez was actually spot on with this comment, as he probably is a world class fighter now that some of his vulnerabilities are being masked. Khan being soft to the body was the thing that stood out to me in that fight more than the cuffing knockdown. He looked like he was about to fall down like a sack of spuds everytime.
